[Tsukigata Onsen] Day Trip Bath and Light Brown Hot Springs Can Be Enjoyed at Tsukigata Onsen Yurikago

Tsukigata Onsen (月形温泉) is a hot spring place in Tsukigata town located in the northeastern direction of Sapporo city. Tsukigata Onsen Hotel (月形温泉ホテル) and Tsukigata Onsen Yurikago (月形温泉ゆりかご) are built near National Route 275, and are is relatively near the center of Tsukigata, and there are restraunts and convenience stores. Those are adjacent to Kairaku Park (皆楽公園), and there are Kairaku Park Pond (皆楽公園沼), Kairaku Park Campsite (皆楽公園キャンプ場), Tsukigata Baseball Field (月形野球場) and a park golf course. At the Kairaku Park Pond, Hera-crucian fishing can be enjoyed in a summer, and pond smelt fishing can be enjoyed in a winetr. By the way, Miyajima Swamp (宮島沼) that is famous for wild birds flying away in the early morning is near here.

Miyajima Swamp

Miyajima Swamp (宮島沼) is a small swamp in Bibai city located in the northeastern direction of Sapporo city, and is the 13th wetland designated as the Ramsar Convention Wetland in Japan. The perimeter of the swamp is about 2.7 km, and the maximum water depth is 2.4 m. The swamp surrounded by fields is close to Tsukigata Onsen (月形温泉) and Kairaku Park (偕楽公園), and is well-known as the largest and northernmost wild goose's temporary resting place in the Japan. In a spring and an autumn, Migratory birds such as Wild Goose, Bean Goose, Whistling Swans come flying, and about 60,000 wild birds stay at the Miyajima Swamp on a day when a lot of the migratory birds arrive. Visitors can take a day trip bath at the Tsukigata Onsen Yurikago. On the other hand, an accommodation without taking a day trip bath is the Tsukigata Onsen Hotel.

Tsukigata Onsen Yurikago

Tsukigata Onsen Yurikago is a hot spring facility for day trip onsen founded in 1987, and is unusual hot spring facility with hair dye place. It is adjacent to the Tsukigata Onsen Hotel, and a large delta roof like a mountain hut is outstanding. An entrance fee to a bath facility is JPY 500. A restraunt "Nire-no-Ki" (レストラン にれの木) and a shop are at the building, too, and visitors for day trip bath can use the restraunt. A lunch set with taking a bath is served for JPY 1000. In addition, a staying is possible at the Tsukigata Onsen Hotel, too.

They have 2 different public bathhouses. There are 1 one open-air bath, 2 indoor baths, 1 whirlpool bath, 1 cold bath and 1 sauna at the large bathhouse. There are 1 one open-air bath, 1 indoor bath, 1 whirlpool bath, 1 sleeping bath, 1 cold bath and 1 sauna at a small bathhouse. The bathhouses for men or women are replaced almost every day. I took a bath at the small bathhouse.

The indoor bath is the size that about 8 people can take a bath, and the whirlpool bath is the size that about 3 people can take a bath, and the sleeping bath seats 3 person. The open-air bath surrounded by rocks is the size that about 3 people can take a bath. Flowers of sulphur dance in the hot springs. The open-air bath is surrounded by blind fences, so a view is not good. Each baths use heated hot springs.

The hot springs are sodium and calcium chloride spring, and are clear and light brown and have slightly salty taste and no smell. The sum total of the hot spring ingredients are 6.855 g/kg. Unfortunately, the hot springs are not drinkable because of circulation type baths. Shampoos and body soaps are provided at the bathhouse. A restroom and free hair dryers are installed at a dressing room.
