Tomuraushi Onsen (トムラウシ温泉) is a hot spring place at end of Hokkaido Road 718 in Shintoku town located in the northwest part of Obihiro city, and is around 60 km distance through the Hokkaido Road 718 from the center of the Shintoku town. Only Kokumin-Shukusha Higashi-Taisetsu-so (国民宿舎東大雪荘) has opened a business at 640 m above sea level in a mountain of Estern Daisetsu Area, Daisetuzan National Park, and is well-known for meeting rare wild animals such as Yezo Sable. Kokumin-Shukusha Higashi-Taisetsu-so

Kokumin-Shukusha Higashi-Taisetsu-so is a small-sized onsen ryokan founded in 1965. The appearance is like a large mountain hut, and goes well with the image of secret onsen in the heart of the mountain. Public bath facilities were renewd in 2015, and all the baths use fresh free flowing hot springs with adding water. Thanks Higashi-Taisetsu-so! An entrance fee to the bath facility is JPY 500. A staying is possible, too. Restaurant Kamui (レストランカムイ) and a shop are at a building, too, and tasty dishes have a good reputation. A coin-operated laundry is provided, too.

I arrived here at 10:30. Starting a business time of day trip bath was 12:00. But, a hotel desk clerk said "Although a cleaner is cleaning baths, if you do not mind, I allow you to take a bath". I decided to take a bath. There are 2 open-air baths, 2 indoor baths, 1 cascading bath, 1 cold bath and 1 sauna at a large public bathhouse on the 1st floor. The cold bath surrounded by hinoki cypress uses spring water. The sauna is a mist sauna, and the hot springs are used for the mist. The mist with slightly sulfur smell seems to be effective for making skin smooth and beautiful. The sunny bathhouse with a high ceiling have large windows, and are feeling good. The ceiling height is around 8 m.

The each open-air baths are the size that about 10 people can take a bath. One of the open-air bath was cleaned, but the hot springs flowed like falls from rocks at another open-air bath. A sense of openness can be enjoyed very much, and murmuring of Youtomuraushi River (ユートムラウシ川) was comfortable. I think that fall foliage looks good in an autumn.
