[Tomayama Observation Deck in Toma] 360 Degree View Refreshes Yourself After Going Up Mountain
CONTENTS
Mt. Toma
Mt. Toma (当麻山) is a mountain with an elevation of 292 m in Toma town located in the eastern direction of Asahikawa city, and the distance is about 2.5 km away from the center of the toma. It has Toma Sport Lnad Field Athletics Course (とうまスポーツランド フィールドアスレチックコース), a campsite, Toma Ski Resort, and an observation deck is built on the top of the mountain. a famous place for cherry blossoms called Tomayama Hitome Senbon Zakura (当麻山一目千本桜) is at the Toma Sport Lnad Field Athletics Course and the campsite, and cherry trees also bloom along streets. It is easy to enjoy the cherry blossoms because those are not far away from a parking lot. The best time to see the cherry blossoms is about from late April to early May. Admission free. The parking lot is free of charge, too.

A direct bus does not run between Sapporo or New Chitose Airport and the Toma. But Limited Express Sekihoku-go (特急石北号), an express bus, runs between the Kitami and Asahikawa, and "Kosoku Engaru-go (高速えんがる号)", an express bus, runs between the Sapporo and the Engaru, and those stop at the Toma. Speaking of tasty restaurants in the Toma, Kokopelli nad MERB are popular in particular. Hot springs do not gush in the Toma, but a day trip bathing can be at Healthy Chateau.
Tomayama Hitome Senbon Zakura
The Tomayama Hitome Senbon Zakura is at foot of the Mt. Toma, and the cherry trees such as Yezo Mountain Cherry Trees (エゾヤマザクラ) are planted. It is one of Hitome Senbon Zakura in Japan, and a lot of the cherry trees has been planted to see a thousand of the cherry trees at first sight. So maybe, the number of the cherry trees is more than 1000. Visitors can appreciate the cherry blossoms while enjoying the camping or the field athletics. The site is not large, so it takes less than 30 minutes to look around on foot. Read More

Tomayama Observation Deck
The visitors can not go up the mountain by their cars. So the visitors must go up the mountain on foot. Walks of 544 m in total length is built, and it is not difficult to walk. But the walks have a lot hard steps, and I think that the visitors get tired very much. It took about 30 minutes for me from a trailhead to the obsevation deck on foot. I got tired. But the views were worth seeing. It was very comfortable.

The 360 degree view can be enjoyed at the top of the double-decker observation deck. * Trees disturb the views, so aroud 330 may be right. The Toma is known as a rice-producing region in Hokkaido, and I was surprised at a lot of rice fields. A combination of the rice fields and gravestones was good, too. Mt. Daisetsuzan can be seen, if it is fine weather.

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
