Fall Foliage of Takinoue Park
As for the fall foliage of the Takinoue Park, a valley eroded by Yubari River (夕張川) goes well with the fall foliage, especially, Chidorigataki Falls (千鳥ヶ滝) and Ryusenkyo Gorge (竜仙峡) are famous. The Chidorigataki Falls has another name, Yubari Falls (夕張滝), too. Ainu people used to live around here. They named around the Chidorigataki Falls as Kamuikotan (カムイコタン) that means "The land that gods live in" because the harsh landscape ward off the poeple. Speaking of the Kamuikotan, its name in Asahikawa is famous, and I have never known the Kamuikotan in Yubari. By the way, the width of the river is around 100 m when snow melts. The park is large, so it takes about 60 minutes to go round on foot.
