[Tsuboya Head Office Kibana-no-Mori in Asahikawa] Soft Serve Ice Cream with Kibana Cookie and Kibana Hot Chocolate Drink
Tsuboya (壺屋) is a long-established confectionery store based in Asahikawa city, and has been established by Sadaji Muramoto (村本 定二) since 1929, and is famous for Kibana Cookie (き花) reflecting an image of diamond dust. That has been awarding Gold Prize by Monde Selection for 32 consecutive years. It is amazing! Except the Kibana Cookie, they serve Western confectioneries and Japanese confectioneries. The head office is in the Asahikawa, and branches and shops open a business in the Asahikawa, Sapporo, Ebetsu, Ashibetsu, Furano, Biei, Wakkanai and Rumoi.
My visited place is Kibana-no-Mori (花の杜) opened in 2014 this time. It is the head office and a factory, and is near Asahikawa City Science Museum Saipal. A large building and a courtyard are built at the site, and the building has Hokkaido Confectionery Gallery (北海道菓子ギャラリー), CAFE Bunran (CAFE 文欒), Minnano Cook Labo (みんなのクックラボ), Midori-to-Hanako (ミドリとハナコ), Craft Brown Box (クラフトブラウンボックス), Kodomon (コドモン), Oribe Tea Room (織部の茶室) and a resting place. It seems that a snow hut is built at the courtyard in a winter.
High Speed Asahikawa-go (高速あさひかわ号) and Express Nayoro-go (高速なよろ号), express buses, runs between the Asahikawa and the Sapporo, and Taisetsu Liner (たいせつライナー), an express bus, runs between the Asahikawa and the New Chitose Airport, and Sunrise Asahikawa-Kushiro-go (サンライズ旭川・釧路号), an express bus, runs between the Asahikawa and Kushiro, and Limited Express Sekihoku-go (特急石北号), an express bus, runs between the Kitami and Asahikawa, and "North Liner-go (ノースライナー号)", an express bus, runs between the Asahikawa and Obihiro. Besides, Rent-a-car can be rented around Asahikawa Station and Asahikawa Airport.
Asahikawa (旭川) that about 340,000 people live is the 2nd largest commercial city in Hokkaido, and has flourished as the center of the North Hokkaido area. Woodworks have been prosperous since the old days, and furniture is famous. Because water is clear, a liquor such as sake of Otokoyama (男山) and Godo Shusei (合同酒精) are famous, too. Popular tourist attractions such as Asahiyama Zoo (旭山動物園) and Biei (美瑛) are around the Asahikawa, so a lot of tourists use tourist bases in the North Hokkaido. As for a climate, the Asahikawa is located in Kamikawa Basin, the largest basin in the Hokkaido, so it is hot that temperature rises to 30 degrees C in a summer, and it is cold that temperature falls to -25 degrees C in a winter, and it snow very hard, too. So a winter festival using the snow is famous. Read More
Soft Serve Ice Cream with Kibana Cookie and Kibana Hot Chocolate Drink
Since I was there, I looked for sweets related to the Kibana Cookie that customers copuld eat at the building, so I found a cup of Soft Serve Ice Cream with a kibana Cookie (き花のカップ絹ソフト) and a cup of Kibana Hot Chocolate Drink (き花チョコレートドリンク) served at the CAFE Bunran. So I ordered those. Both prices were JPY 350 per one. By the way, customers could not use the CAFE Bunraku if they ordered only foods to go. On the other hand, they could eat the foods and drinks to go at the resting place. A brick table was provided at the CAFE Bunran, and the interior decoration was a stylish atmosphere.
As for the soft serve ice cream, almond galettes and white chocolate sauce were poured into the soft serve ice cream made from Creamery Noumu Milk (クリーマリー農夢), and it was topped with a kibana cookie. It was just right sweetness, and was tasty! I put the soft serve ice cream on the kibana cookie, and it turned into different taste.
The Kibana Hot Chocolate Drink was a drink poured milk into white chocolate used in the Kibana Cookie. The drink was foaming with creamy feeling, and was very sweet. Meals were served at the CAFE Bunran, so I want to eat meals next time. Thanks for the tasty sweets!

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
