[Toyoken in Nayoro] Nayoro Soft Cookie, Sunpira Pudding and Fleurs Saison
Kashitsukasa Toyoken (菓子司東陽軒) is a long-established confectionery store founded in 1925 in Nayoro city located between Asahikawa city and Wakkanai city. Mr. Koichi Oikawa (及川 浩一) is a owner patissier at present. Their head office used to be at shopping districts near Nayoro station in old days, but their factory and shop near Nayoro Legal Affairs Bureau (名寄法務局) have become the head office since 2015. They sell various sweets including Japanese confectioneries and Western confectioneries. The sunny store with large windows is not so small, and is feeling good.
Nayoro (名寄) that about 30,000 people live is the 24th largest commercial city in Hokkaido, and is located between Wakkanai city and Asahikawa city, and is one of regional hub cities of the North Hokkaido area. The Nayoro means "A country near rivers" in Ainu language, and the downtown is between Nayoro River (名寄川) and Teshio River (天塩川). Furen that became incorporated with the Nayoro in 2006 is well-known for glutinous rice, and the planted area is the largest in Japan. As for a climate, it is hot that temperature rises to nearly 30 degrees in a summer, and it is cold that temperature falls to nearly -30 degrees in a winter because Nayoro is located in a basin. Natural environment of abou 60-degrees temperature difference is one of features of the Nayoro. So natural phenomena such as SunPillar and Diamond Dust can be enjoyed. The Nayoro is just beside Bifuka town recorded the coldest temperature, -41.5 degrees, in Japan, and is one of the coldest region in the Hokkaido. Read More
Sanpira Pudding, Fleurs Saison, Nyoro Soft Cookie
Because I heard from my older sister that Nayoro Soft Cookie (名寄そふとクッキー) was tasty, I visited here around 11:00 on a weekday. When I looked around the store, I found Fleurs Saison (フルールセゾン) like Kibana Cookie made by Tsuboya and famous Sanpira Pudding (サンピラープリン) known as 2 famous puddings in the Nayoro, so I decided to buy those. As for the prices, the Nayoro Soft Cookie was JPY 140, and the Sunpira Pudding was JPY 206, and the Fleurs Saison was JPY 124. I got a permission from a shop clerk, and I ate those at the store.
The Nayoro Soft Cookies had a ganache flavor and a white chocolate flavor, and both cookies were very moist. Those reminded me of the moist state of Choshi Dentetsu Wet Rice Cracker (銚子電鉄ぬれ煎餅) in Chiba Prefecture. The Nayoro Soft Cookies were sweet, and were soft cookies.
The Sanpira Pudding was a pudding made from fresh milk and egg produced in Hokkaido, and was not so sweet, and had the smooth texture. The last was the Fleurs Saison. The hardness of the cookie with almonds was in contrast to the Nayoro Soft Cookie, and had the crisply texture. It was not so sweet, too. Thanks for the tasty sweets!

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
