Nayoro Soft Cookie, Sunpira Pudding and Fleurs Saison -Toyoken in Nayoro-
February 14th, 2015
Toyoken (菓子司東洋軒) is a long-established confectionery in Nayoro city located between Asahikawa city and Wakkanai city and was founded in 1925. They sell various sweets including Japanese sweets and Western sweets. There was a store at shopping districts near Nayoro station in old days, but now they move to around Nayoro Legal Affairs Bureau. Because I heard from my older sister that Nayoro Soft Cookie (名寄そふとクッキー) was tasty, I visited here.
I walked around the store, because I found Fleurs Saison (フルールセゾン) like Kibana made by Tsuboya and famous Sanpira Pudding (サンピラープリン) as 2 major puddings in Nayoro, I decided to buy those together. The Nayoro Soft Cookie is JPY 140, The Sunpira Pudding is JPY 206 and the Fleurs Saison is JPY 124. I got permission from a waitress, and I ate those at the store.
The Nayoro Soft Cookies have a ganache flavor and a white chocolate flavor and are very moist cookies. I remembered the moist state of famous Choshi Dentetsu Wet Rice Cracker (銚子電鉄ぬれ煎餅) in Chiba Prefecture. These are sweet and soft cookies.
The Sanpira Pudding is a pudding made from fresh milk and egg produced in Hokkaido. It is not so sweet and has a smooth texture. The last is the Fleurs Saison. The hardness of the cookie with almonds is in contrast to Nayoro Soft Cookie and has a crisply texture. It is not so sweet, too.
