[Kitakaro Head Office in Sunagawa] Tasty Soft Serve Ice Cream
Kitakaro (北菓楼) is a popular confectionery store based in Sunagawa city between Sapporo city and Asahikawa city, and has been opened since 1991. It is an affiliated company of Hori corp. (株式会社ホリ) that is famous for Yubari Melon Pure Jelly (夕張メロンピュアゼリー). The head office is in the Sunagawa, and some branches as well as Sapporo Honkan (札幌本館) and Otaru Honkan (小樽本館) open a business in Sapporo, the Sunagawa and New Chitose Airport. They serve Western confectionery and Japanese confectionery, and Hokkaido Kaitaku Okaki Rice Cracker (北海道開拓おかき), Baumkuchen, Cream Puff and so on are popular.
My visited place is the head office facing National Route 12 this time, and it is near Hokkaido Children's Park. The building with the very stylish appearance is large, and a courtyard is provided at the site, too. A parking lot is large, but a lot of visitors come, so it is often full. A sales place and a tea room are at the building, and table seats are provided at the tea room, so I guess that even family customers enjoy foods and drinks.
Kitakaro Sapporo Honkan
My visited place is the Kitakaro Sapporo Honkan this time, and it has been opened since 2016, and is near Former Hokkaido Government Office Building in Chuo ward, Sapporo city. Their building is a stone library built in 1926, and is renovated by Mr. Tadao Ando (安藤 忠雄), a famous architect. Kitakaro Shop (北菓楼ショップ), Former Entrance Hall (旧玄関ホール) and Migishi Satellite (ミギシ・サテライト) are on the 1st floor, and Kitakaro Cafe (北菓楼カフェ), Kitakaro Library (北菓楼ライブラリー) and Memorial Room (メモリアルルーム) are on the 2nd floor. The main feature of the Kitakaro Sapporo Honkan is large bookshelves utilized an atmosphere of the library. Limited products are sold at the Kitakaro Shop, and a concert is sometimes held at the Kitakaro Cafe. Read More
Soft Serve Ice Cream
My friend that was going around Hokkaido recommended to me a soft serve ice cream, so I visited here around 15:00 on a weekday. People lined up at a cash registor of Soft Serve Ice Cream when I entered the building. I saw that the Soft Serve Ice Cream as well as the Hokkaido Kaitaku Okaki Rice Cracker are also popular. I also got in the line, and bought a Soft Serve Ice Cream. The price was JPY 308.
I decided to eat it after I moved to the courtyard. The Soft Serve Ice Cream was easy to melt, so I wonderd if milk was fresh, and I walked fast. As I could see, the Soft Serve Ice Cream was vanilla flavor, and was not too sweet, and was the rich milk taste. A waffle was used for an ice cream cone, and was the crispy texture, and was very tasty, too. Thanks for the tasty Soft Serve Ice Cream!

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
