[Iwase Ranch in Sunagawa] Fresh Milk Flavored Gelato and Strawberry Millefeuille Flavored Gelato
Iwase Ranch (岩瀬牧場) is a long-established ranch near Hokkaido Children's Park in Sunagawa city. Iwase Ranch corp. (有限会社岩瀬牧場) runs it, and Mr. Takemi Iwase (岩瀬 剛巳) is a company president at present. Their family has started a cattle-breeder since 1890's, and they raise 200 milk cows at grassland of about 70 ha. Except the cattle-breeder, they also open a gelato shop and Farm Restaurant Rivista (ファームレストランリヴィスタ) at the same site. Although tasty pasta and pizza are popular, their gelato is most popular in particular. Strawberry Millefeuille Flavored Gelato (ストロベリーミルフィーユ) and Cheese Chip Flavored Gelato (チーズチップ) were given highest gold prizes by 2013 National Invitational Local Ice Cream Grandprix. A lot of customers come to eat their gelatos.
My visited place is the gelato shop before renweing in 2018. It has been opened since 1993. The appearance and the interior decoration of the building with an atmosphere of western gelato shop looks like a silo. The interior decoration with cleanliness is based on white color, and the ceiling is hight, and a feeling of openness is felt. A sales place and a place for custmers to enjoy foods and drinks are on the 1st floor, and a place for custmers to enjoy foods and drinks is also provided on the 2nd floor. Parfaits, cakes and drinks as well as the gelatos are served at the sales place. Except the gelato shop, they supply their ingredient of ice cream to some shops in various places of Hokkaido, for example, Sugiura Bakery in Bibai use Iwase Ranch's milk for an ingredient of soft serve ice cream.
I visited the gelato shop around 14:30 on a weekday. Although the Iwase Ranch was far away from city area, 5 groups of customers came while I was at the shop. They purchased not only the gelato but also other sweets such as a pudding or a cream puff. It was popular after all.
As for the price, a scoop of gelato was JPY 260, double scoop of gelatos was JPY 310. I asked a waitress about shop's recommendation, so she replied me "Those are Fresh Milk Flavored Gelato (搾りたてミルク) and Strawberry Millefeuille Flavored Gelato (ストロベリーミルフィーユ)". Since I wanted to eat those 2 types of the gelatos, I ordered the double scoop of the gelatos. Customers could choose a plastic cup or an ice cream cone. The fresh milk was rich taste, and was so good! Thanks for the tasty ice cream!
