[Happiness Dairy in Ikeda] Pumpkin Flavored and Lotus Cup Flavored Gelato
Happiness Dairy (ハッピネスデーリィ) is a sweets shop opened in 1990 in Ikeda town located in the northeastern part of Obihiro city, and is near Ikeda Wine Castle. Shimaki Ranch that raises about 200 Holstein cows runs it, and the Happiness Dairy processes cheese and gelato with their fresh milk. They serve cheese, pizza, drinks, gelato, soft serve ice cream and so on.
The early-American style building is stylish, and a lawn grows in front of the building, and a slide produced by Iron Mountain Forge that is one of 2 slides in Japan is set on the lawn, so even children can enjoy themselves. A lot of woods are used as the interior decoration, and the warmth of the woods is felt, and the ceiling is hight, so the space is comfortable. Table seats are provided inside and outside, so I guess that even family customers enjoy meals.
Ikeda Wine Castle
Ikeda Wine Castle (池田ワイン城) is tourist facilities in Ikeda town located in the northeastern part of Obihiro city. The official name is Tokachi-Ikeda Reseach Institute for Viticulture and Enology (池田町ブドウ・ブドウ酒研究所), and it is called Wine Castle because the appearance of the building looks like an European-style castle in the Middle Ages. The distance is about 1 km away from Ikeda Station, and it is relatively near the castle. The building is built on a small hill of about 25 m elevation, so a view is good. Especially, the sunset is beautiful, so it has been chosen as one of Japan Sunset Best 100 (日本の夕陽百選). Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge. Article is here
When I went to the Ikeda Wine Castle, I happened to pass here by chance. Since a lot of cars were parked at their parking lot, I thought that the Happiness Dairy had to be tasty, and I dropped by here. Preceding customers ordered gelatos, so I emulated them.
A waitress handed a plastic coin to me when I ordered a gelato at a cash register. The price was JPY 320. Their gelato was basic for 2 scoops of gelato. I handed it to another waitress in charge of the gelato, and I ordered it. After a customer choose a cup or a corn, 2 types of gelatos are chosen from 12 types of the gelatos. I asked the waitress about shop's recommendation, so she replied me "Those are Pumpkin Floavor Gelato, Vanilla Floavor Gelato and Lotus Cup Floavor Gelato". Threfore I chose the Pumpkin Floavor Gelato and the Lotus Cup Floavor Gelato.
I decided to eat my gelato outside while seeing the lawn. I had a bite immediately. It was tasty! The lotus cup floavor gelato had the mysterious texture of sweet-sour millefeuille. As for the pumpkin flavor gelato, I was able to feel sweet starch. The gelatos were easy to melt because fresh milk was used in the gelatos. Thanks for the tasty gelatos!
