Sapporo (札幌) that about 1,960,000 people live is the largest city in Hokkaido. Although there are various theories, its origin of the name is "Dry Big River (乾いた大きな川)" in Ainu language. A population of the Sapporo is the 4th largest city after Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya in japan, and the population accounts for 36 % of Hokkaido's population! So the Sapporo has been flourished as the center of the Hokkaido. The area of the Sapporo is 1,121.26 km2, and is about as big as Hong Kong, and is the 7th largest city in the Hokkaido. The Sapporo is also famous as a tourist city, and about 15 million people come. As for a climate, it is hot that temperature rises to nearly 25 degrees in a summer, but it is easy to live without moisture. I always feel a little cool. It is cold that temperature falls to nearly -10 degrees in a winter, and amount of snowfall sometimes has more than 1 m. Article is here

Yukimoe Parfait

No matter how you look at the Gyokusuien, it was a tea dealer, but I heard that the Yukimoe Parfait was tasty, so I visited here around 14:00 on a weekday. 9 customers savored their sweets or Japanese tea. It was popular after all. The shop was small, so I completely thought that a tea room was provided at the other place, but it was not so. Customers ordered the Yukimoe Parfait at the shop, and ate it at the shop.

The Yukimoe Parfait was a powdered green tea pafait using a lot of powdered green tea that matured in a storehouse for a long term. Paste containing pieces of azuki beans skin produced in Hokkaido, roasted brown rice and handmade waffle cone using powdered green tea were used, and the parfait reflected an image of Hokkaido's snow, land and a sprouting of fresh green. The Yukimoe Parfait had 2 types of size, regular size and deluxe size, and I ordered the Yukimoe Parfait with deluxe powdered green tea waffle cone (雪萌えパフェのデラックス抹茶コーン) at a cashier. The price was JPY 470.

The deluxe powdered green tea waffle cone was limited to 30 pieces. A sales clerk said "It is always sold out in the forenoon", but I was able to eat the last one on that day. By the way, he baked deluxe powdered green tea waffle cones in the early morning. The waffle cones turned into brown burn mark if he did not use abundant powdered green tea in the waffle cones. It was thanks to powdered green tea used abundantly that the waffle cone was green color. The waffle cone was just right sweetness, and even only this was tasty enough. The main soft serve ice cream was was additive-free, and melted easily. The sweetness of the soft serve ice cream went well with the bitterness of the powdered green tea, and it was very good. After eating it, he served a roasted green tea on the house. Thanks for the tasty pafait!
