[Ciccio Pasticcio in Hakodate] Italian Pastry, Peache Crepe and Lily Bulb Crostata
December 13th, 2014
Ciccio Pasticcio (チッチョ パスティッチョ) is a popular Italian confectionery store founded in 1997 in a residential area, Ishikawa-cho, Hakodate city, and is near Tsuruha Drug Store Hakodate Ishikawa Branch and Ishikawa Park. Mr. Kosuke Ogiri (大桐 幸介) is an owner patissier. The Ciccio Pasticcio means "A pretty pastry shop" in Italian baby-talk. The owner trained his cooking skill in Italy, and learned genuine Italian sweets. I think that it is unusual that Hokkaido people eat the genuine Italian sweets. Cakes, baked confectioneries, gelatos and so one are sold.
The store on the 1st floor of a pink 3-story house, and is not so small. The interior decoration is based on white color, and the space is comfortable. A sales area and a cafe area are provided, and all seats are table seats, so I guess that even family customers enjoy sweets.

Hakodate (函館) that about 260,000 people live is the 3rd largest port city in Hokkaido, and is a regional hub city of the Southern Hokkaido area. The Hakodate became incorporated with Toi town (戸井), Esan town (恵山), Todohokke village (椴法華) and Minami-kayabe town (南茅部) in 2004, and most of Kameda Peninsula (亀田半島) has changed to the Hakodate. It is one of most popular tourist cities in the Hokkaido, and about 5 million people visit here. The downtown of the Hakodate from Mt. Hakodate toward former Goryokaku fort is developed on a large sandbar between the seas, and a unique seashore landscape is very popular. Although a lot of tourists think the center town of the Hakodate is around Hakodate Station and the Mt. Hakodate, it is around Hakodate Streetcar Goryokaku Koen-mae Stop (函館市電五稜郭公園前駅). The Hakodate is also well-known as a city with a lot of slopes, and there are 19 slopes with its name such as Hachiman-zaka slope (八幡坂), Daisan-zaka slope (大三坂) and Motoi-zaka slope (基坂), so around the Mt. Hakodate has a lot of slope lands, and the Hakodate has a lot of narrow roads. As for a climate, the Hakodate is wamer than other cities in the Hokkaido because it is located of the Southern Hokkaido, and it does not snow hard. Article is here
Peach Crepe and Lily Bulb Crostata
A waitress was very kind, so she told me about their cakes in various ways. I used her talking as reference, and ordered a Peach Crepe (桃のクレープ * JPY 356) and a Lily Bulb Crostata (百合根のクロスタータ * JPY 356). The Peach Crepe sold well, and they guessed that the Lily Bulb Crostata was sold only here in Japan, so I ordered those. I decided to eat those at the place for customers to enjoy foods and drinks.
The Peach Crepe and the Lily Bulb Crostata on a square dish was served. Both appearance looked tasty. As for the Peach Crepe, a peice of peach was covered with rounded crepe. The crepe was soft, and the taste of cheese and cream were exquisitely delicious. I was glad that it was not too sweet. It was tasty!
I supposed that the Lily Bulb Crostata was a dish rather than a pastry. Its sweetness was just right. The lily bulb was slightly sweet, and had the unusual texture. I recommended it to a non sweet tooth because of not too sweet. By the way, 99% of lily bulb in Japan was produced in Hokkaido. That was a sweets using an ingredient produced in the Hokkaido. Thanks for the tasty sweets!
