Mt. Sokuryozan (測量山) is a mountain with an altitude of about 200 m in the western part of Muroran city, and is close to Muroran Station and Masuichi Lookout (マスイチ展望台). Television transmission towers and observation decks are built around the mountaintop, and it is well-known for seeing beautiful views such as Muroran Port and Muroan. The mountain was named after survey (Sokuryo means the survey in Japanese, and Zan means a mountain in the Japanese) because Mr. A.G.Warfield went up the mountain to survey a road. In the evening, the television transmission towers are lit up, and a sea of clouds can be seen in June. Drive safe because a road to the mountaintop is narrow.
