Jizoiwa Rock and Menou Beach -Motochi Coast in Rishiri Island-
October 19th, 2015
Motochi Coast (元地海岸) is located in the southwestern part of Rebun Island (礼文島), and there are Jizoiwa Rock (地蔵岩) and Menou Beach (メノウ海岸), too. The Jizoiwa Rock is a strangly-shaped rock with about 50 m in height and seemed to be named because the large rock looked like the guardian deity of children with putting palms together from the sea. Tourists were able to go to the foot of the Jizoiwa Rock in old days, but the private land is off-limits to tourists now. It is famous for seeing the beautiful setting sun in the Sea of Japan, too.
Menou Beach spread over in front of a parking lot and was named because agates in the rough were found well. But the agates can not seem to be found now. However, the Sea of Japan is very beautiful and I was charmed by the blue. There are a restroom and a stall near the parking lot.
