[Closed Business: Tochirowo in Obihiro] Tasty Miso Broth Ramen with Exquisite Salty-Sweet Soup

Tochirowo (トチロヲ) is a popular ramen restraunt facing Obihiro-no-Mori Street (帯広の森通り) in a residential area, Minami-no-Mori, Obihiro city, and is near Minamicho Stadium (南町球場), and is far away from Obihiro Station. They were founded in 2003. Miso Broth Ramen has a good reputation. The Tochirowo opens a business only at lunchtime. Unfortunately, they closed down in 2018. Tochirowo's owner started HACHIDORI, a new ramen brand. This article before closing is as follows.
The ramen restraunt on the 1st floor of 2 story private house is not like a typical ramen restraunt, and is not so large. The interior decoration has an atmosphere such as a cafe. Counter seats and 2 tables are provided, so I guess that even family customers enjoy meals. But the ramen restraunt is crowded with customers at lunchtime, and a line is expected.

Obihiro (帯広) that about 170,000 people live is the 6th largest commercial city in Hokkaido, and is one of regional hub cities of the Eastern Hokkaido area. It has flourished as the center of the Tokachi district. The Obihiro is also a stockyard for agricultural products in whole Tokachi district, and Potato, Beet, Wheat and Chinese Yam are famous as a local product. As for a climate, it is hot that temperature rises to nearly 30 degrees in a summer, and it is cold that temperature falls to nearly -20 degrees in a winter. It has a large temperature gap, but it has less snow relatively in the Hokkaido. Therefore skating is popular in the winter. Mr. Hiroyasu Shimizu, an olympic gold medalist, come from the Obihiro, and there is much competition population of the skating. Article is here
Ramen of Hokkaido
Ramen is a noodle soup dish topped with ingredients. It is said that Chinese noodles is the root of the ramen, and there are various theories, for example, Mr. Mistukuni Tokugawa (徳川光圀 * Mitokomon (水戸黄門)) ate the ramen in 1697 for the first time in Japan or the first ramen was that Keitaimen noodles (経帯麺) served in 1488 was written in Biryueken Diary (蔭涼軒日録). Noodle soup dishes were spread out in Japan because Nanking noodles (南京そば) was served in various China Towns, Japan. In Hakodate with a China Town, Yowaken (養和軒) served the Nanking noodles in 1884. In Sapporo, it is a root of Sapporo Ramen that a noodle soup dish was cooked by Mr. Wang Wen Zai (王 文彩), a chief chef of Takeya Shokudo (竹家食堂), in 1922. Houran (芳蘭), a branch of the Takeya Shokudo, opened a business in 1933 in Asahikawa. Asahikawa Ramen, Sapporo Ramen and Hakodate Ramen called the 3 Major Ramen in Hokkaido were born. Miso Broth Ramen
I visited here before opening hour on Sunday. 2 visitors lined up before opening time. I sat at a counter seat, and ordered Miso Broth Ramen (味噌ラーメン) and Gyoza Dumplings (餃子). * Originally this restraunt was a ramen shop specializing in Miso Broth Ramen. The price of the Miso Broth Ramen was JPY 800, and the price of the Gyoza Dumplings were JPY 360. While I was waiting for the ramen, customers came one after another, and lined up. The Tochirowo was very popular, after all.
About 7 minutes later, the ramen was served. A roasted pork fillet, bamboo shoots, fried vegetables and green onions were on noodles. I ate a sip of soup immediately. The soup was rich taste, and had a little spicy. Its dark color looked very spicy, but the salty-sweet taste was exquisite. It was tasty! The noodles were egg noodles, and looked like noodles of Sapporo Miso Broth Ramen. Those were went well with the soup, too.
I liked a texture of floating fat balls on the surface of the soup. That was nice! By the way, a slogan of this ramen restraunt is "Their cooking is not depended on sugar and fat". It may be said that their ramen is healthy. When I bit a gyoza dumpling, broth came out. It was tasty, too. Thanks for the tasty meals!
