[Asakusaken in Nemuro] Soy Sauce Broth Ramen with Good Old Atmosphere
Asakusaken (浅草軒) is a long-established ramen restraunt founded in 1934 in an entertainment district, Umegae-cho, Nemuro city, and is loved by local people. The ramen restraunt with a atomosphere such as a good old restraunt is large, and looks new. All seats are table seats, so I guess that even family customers enjoy meals. But the ramen restraunt is crowded with customers at lunchtime.
By the way, Express Aurora-go (オーロラ号), an express bus, runs between Sapporo and the Nemuro, and Limited Express Nemuro-go (特急ねむろ号), an express bus, runs between the Kushiro and the Nemuro. Unfortunately, the express bus does not run between New Chitose Airport and the Nemuro. Besides, Rent-a-car can be rented around Nemuro Station.
Nemuro (根室) that about 26,000 people live in is the 26th largest fishery city in Hokkaido, and one of regional hub cities of the East Hokkaido area, and is the easternmost port town in Japan. The Nemuro has 4 ports, Nemuro Port (根室港), Hanasaki Port (花咲港), Ochiishi Fishing Port (落石漁港) and Habomai Fishing Port (歯舞漁港), and it is famous for catching Hanasaki Crab (花咲ガニ) and Saury, and a catch of the saury is the largest in the Japan. As for a climate, the Nemuro faces the Sea of Okhotsk and the Pcific Ocean, so a wind blows hard. Average annual temperature is 6 degrees, and it is chilly in a summer, and it does not snow hard in a winter. Various things such as Cape Nosappu (納沙布岬) is the easternmost in the Japan, so visitors know the joy of the easternmost things in the Japan. It is a good point to see the earliest sunrise in the Japan, too. In addition, It is said that the Nemuro is famous for coming the last Cherry Blossom Front, and is one of latest cherry blossoming places in the Japan. Read More
Ramen of Hokkaido
Ramen is a noodle soup dish topped with ingredients. It is said that Chinese noodles is the root of the ramen, and there are various theories, for example, Mr. Mistukuni Tokugawa (徳川光圀 * Mitokomon (水戸黄門)) ate the ramen in 1697 for the first time in Japan or the first ramen was that Keitaimen noodles (経帯麺) served in 1488 was written in Biryueken Diary (蔭涼軒日録). Noodle soup dishes were spread out in Japan because Nanking noodles (南京そば) was served in various China Towns, Japan. In Hakodate with a China Town, Yowaken (養和軒) served the Nanking noodles in 1884. In Sapporo, it is a root of Sapporo Ramen that a noodle soup dish was cooked by Mr. Wang Wen Zai (王 文彩), a chief chef of Takeya Shokudo (竹家食堂), in 1922. Houran (芳蘭), a branch of the Takeya Shokudo, opened a business in 1933 in Asahikawa. Asahikawa Ramen, Sapporo Ramen and Hakodate Ramen called the 3 Major Ramen in Hokkaido were born. But current ramen do not succeed to the taste of those ramen. Read More
Soy Sauce Broth Ramen
I visited here to eat ramen around 16:00 on a weekday. No preceding customers enjoyed meals. I sat a table seat, and read a menu. I found letters of Ramen (ラーメン). But I did not know what flavor the ramen was. To leave my fate to diety, I ordered the Ramen. The price was JPY 700.
While waiting for the ramen, 2 groups of local customers entered the ramen restraunt. They went to a kitchen to order, and took water on the way back themselves. I saw that this ramen restraunt was loved by local people.
About 7 minutes later, the Ramen was served. The Ramen was Soy Sauce Broth Ramen. Roasted pork fillets, bamboo shoots and green onions were on noodles. I had a sip of soup. I felt that the soup used dried bonito shavings, but I heard that chicken soup stock was used in the soup. It was light taste, and was nice ramen for light taste lover. Noodles were homemade noodles, and its length was aabout 50 cm. It reminds me of old style ramen. The noodles went well with the soup. I savored the old style ramen. Thanks for the tasty ramen!

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons.
