Fukuyoshi (福よし) is a long-established restaurant founded in 1950 in Kunneppu town located in the southwestern part of Kitami city, and serve various dishes such as Sushi, Ramen, and so on. It is the restraunt loved by local people. The Kunneppu is well-known as Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl with Soy Sauce called Tare Katsudon (たれカツ丼). Especially, the foundr of the Fukuyoshi devised Kunneppu Tare Katsudon (訓子府たれカツ丼), and a lot of tourists come to savor the pioneer taste of the Kunneppu Tare Katsudon. The Tare Katsudon is not Tamagotoji Katsudon (卵とじカツ丼 * Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl with Beaten Egg). The Tare Katsudon in Niigata Prefecture is famous, but, in fact, the Tare Katsudon is also a local speciality dish rooted in the Kunneppu. By the way, Kunneppu Pudding (くんねっぷりん) made by Mr Bungo Toishi (砥石文吾), the present restaurant owner, is also popular.
The restraunt had an atomosphere such as a sushi restaurant, and a showcase for sushi topping is also provided. They have counter seats and table seats, and there are a lot of table seats, so I guess that family customers also enjoy meals. By the way, hot springs gush out in the Kunneppu, so a day trip onsen can be enjoyed at Kunneppu Onsen Rest Center (温泉保養センター).
Kunneppu Onsen (訓子府温泉) is a hot spring place in Kunneppu town located in the southwestern part of Kitami city. Only Kunneppu Onsen Rest Center (訓子府温泉保養センター) surrounded by fields is built between Tokoro River (常呂川) and Hokkaido Road 50. It takes about 5 minutes from the center of the Kunneppu by car, and this onsen is relatively near the center of the Kunneppu. Speaking of the Kunneppu, Kunneppu Tare Katsudon is famous. I ate it at Fukuyosi, and it was tasty. Article is here
Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl with Soy Sauce
I visited here around 11:00, just opening hour, on a weekday, and was first one. I sat at a counter seat, and read a menu. The menu had 2 types of the Katsudon, the Katsudon and the Tamagotoji Katsudon, and the Katsudon points the Tare Katsudon. Of course, I ordered the Katsudon. The price was JPY 800.
Afer waiting for about 10 minutes, the Tare Katsudon combo meal with a cup of soup and a dish of yellow pickled radish was served. The soy flovered sauce was poured over the fresh deep-fried pork cutlet put on the dried lavers spread over rice. Green Peas were outstanding. I ate a mouthful immediately. The crunchy deep-fried pork cutlet was savory and tasty, and is worth eating. I felt that the oy sauce was too salty, but this is a matter of personal preference. I think that salty food lovers may enjoy it.
