July 21st, 2015
Butadon Pancho (豚丼のぱんちょう) is a long-established store specializing in pork rice bowl near Obihiro station in Obihiro city and was founded in 1933. The restraunt is known for serving a pork rice bowl for the first time. I visited here around 14:00 on weekdays, but some people lined up in front of the store at this time. As Pancho would expect of originated pork rice bowl (元祖豚丼), it is popular. I lined up for approximately 10 minutes and entered the restraunt.
I shared a table because the restraunt was crowded. There were many old waitress at the restraunt and they gave skillful service. I read a menu. There are 4 kinds of pork rice bowls, Matsu (松), Take (竹), Ume (梅) and Hana (華), and a quantity of the pork is different. In addition, customers also can order a bowl of miso soup and drink if the customers want to drink. I ordered only Take Pork Rice Bowl. The price was JPY 950. Approximately 5 minutes later, the pork rice bowl was served.
As I expected, porks protruded from bowls. It was a typical of the pork rice bowl. I opend a top cover and ate one bite at once. Sirloin pork chop grilled by charcoal was tender. It was salty-sweet and tasty! Rice was poured salty-sweet sauce over, and I could enjoy eating the even only rice. I finished eating in less than 10 minutes.
