Onuma Quasi-National Park

The Higashi-onuma Onsen has a long history. Mr. Tokunai Mogami (最上徳内) wrote an article in Yezozoshi (蝦夷草紙) together with Isoya Onsen (磯谷温泉), Shikabe Onsen (鹿部温泉) and Kakkumi Onsen (川汲温泉) in 1790, and the Higashi Onuma Onsen is one of historical onsen in Hokkaido, too. By the way, Speaking of tasty restaurants in the Nanae, Ramen Taishoken (大勝軒), Numa-no-Ie (沼の家), Yamakawa Ranch Nature Milk Shop (山川牧場自然牛乳売店) and Hakodate Wine Budokan (はこだてわいん 葡萄館) are popular in particular. I ate foods at the Kerun and the Numa-no-Ie, and those were tasty.

Onuma Quasi-National Park

Onuma Quasi-National Park (大沼国定公園) has area of 9,083 ha on the foot of Mt. Komagatake (駒ヶ岳) and is composed of Lake Ounma (大沼湖), Lake Konuma (小沼湖), Junsai Swamp (蓴菜沼) and Mt. Komagatake, an active volcano with 1,131 m in height. When Mt. Komagatake erupted from 50,000 to 30,000 years ago, a river was dammed by flowing mud flood, and these wetlands were born. The wetlands have been designed as the Ramsar Convention wetland, wild waterfowls such as Goose and Duck rest their wings on the surface of the lake. Article is here

Shirotai Ranch Observation Point

Shirotai Ranch Observation Point (城岱牧場展望台) is a scenic spot in Nanae adjacent to Hakodate and is located around the mountaintop after goin up Shirotai Skyline Road (城岱スカイライン). It is surrounded by pasture land and has a typical view of Hokkaido. In addition, the view is different from ordinary ranches, and the view from there is superb. Mt. Hakodate (函館山) and Hakodate Plain (函館平野) spread out before my eyes at the place with about 550 m in height. It is known as a night view spot, too, and that is often called "Night View from Back Side (裏夜景)" because of locating opposite side of famous Hakodate Night Views. There are a resting place and a restroom at the building. Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge, too. Article is here

Kerun

Kerun (ケルン) is a famous restaurant in Mori town located in the north part of Hakodate city. There is a building along the National Route 5. A hamburger steak and a steak using beef produced in Hokkaido are popular. I heard from my friend that it was very popular restaurant, but I did not think that it was crowded before entering a restaurant possibly. The preceding visitors were 8 groups. I wrote my name on a board before business hours and ordered small hamburger steak combo (スモールハンバーグランチ). The price was JPY 999. The visitors waited at each cars until opening a business.
