Hot springs were discovered by Mr. Aiki Hino (日野愛憲) in 1886. Then after Mr. Kyukitsu Hino (日野久橘), Aiki Hino's adopted child, drunk the hot springs, his gastritis was recovered, so he built Onsen Inn Kotobukikan (寿館) in 1899, and it is a basis for the Noboribetsu Karurusu Onsen. Because the hot springs were like the hot springs of Carlsbad in Czechoslovakian, and the hot springs were drikable, here was named Karurusu Onsen. The Noboribetsu Karurusu Onsen passed a rigorous screening in 1957, and has been appointed by Minister for the Environment, and is one of 15 nation insurance hot spring resorts in Hokkaido. Fresh green can be enjoyed in a summer, fall foliage can be enjoyed in an autumn, and skiing or snowboarding can be enjoyed in a winter.

This ryokan has a unique relaxation method. There are wooden pillows and a wooden floor at the bathhouse, while the bathers lie on the wooden floor, they pour the hot springs over themselves. Because the bathers can enjoy the hot springs like sauna, it seems to be most suitable for the hot spring cure to take long time.
