Utafue Shrine (歌笛神社) in Mitsuishi, Shinhidaka town is located in the northwestern part of Cape Erimo (えりも岬) and was founded in 1983, and moved here in 1902. Amaterasu-Omikami (天照大神 * the God of the sun), Hakusanhime-no-Kami (白山比賣神) and Kumano-Omikami (熊野大神) are enshrined. Utafue Shrine is a famous place for cherry blossoms, too, and cherry trees such as Double Cherry Tree (ヤエザクラ), Yezo Mountain Cherry Tree (エゾヤマザクラ), Yoshino Cherry Tree (ソメイヨシノ) and Weeping Cherry Tree (枝垂れ桜) grow on a mountain. Cherry blossoms are in full bloom from early May to mid May. Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge.
There are a main shrine (本殿), a war memorial monument (戦没者慰霊碑), a bato kannon (馬頭観音) and memorial monuments (周年碑) at the shrine's area. Except an approach, a narrow mountain road is provided, too, and visitors can go up to the main shrine by their cars. There are a gazobo and a restroom around a parking lot. A view from top of the mounatin is good, and I felt comfortable. Few vitiors come, and the visitors will feel easy.
