[Makubetsu Onsen] Day Trip Onsen and Dark Brown Moor Hot Springs Can Be Enjoyed

Makubetsu Onsen

Makubetsu Onsen (幕別温泉) is a hot spring place in Makubetsu town located in the eastern part of Obihiro city. 2 hot spring facilities are along Tobestu River (途別川), Hana-no-Yu (華の湯) is built on a small hill at around 95 m above sea level, and Park Hotel Yuyukan (パークホテル悠湯館) is built at around 40 m above sea level in a forest. There are Yoda Park (依田公園), a park golf course and Makubetsu-cho Furusato hall (幕別町ふるさと館) near Hana-no-Yu (華の湯). Those rather are closer Satsunai than the Makubetsu, and the distance is around 1.5 km away from the center of the Satsunai, and restaurants, cafes, convenience stores and super markets are built there. Tokachi Hills (十勝ヒルズ), Aikoku Station (愛国駅), Kofuku Station (幸福駅), Manabe Farden (真鍋庭園) and Tokachigawa Onsen (十勝川温泉) are relatively near here. Speaking of tasty restaurants in the Makubetsu, Hyakushoan (百姓(笑)庵), Farm Restaurant VIZ (ファームレストラン・ヴィーズ) and Soba Dokoro Koshiro (そば処小代) are popular in particular.

As for the Makubetsu Onsen, simple hot spring or sodium chloride spring with moor hot spring are gushed out. The moor spring is brown spring that gushes out from a peat bed or a lignitic bed, and contains a lot of organics of plant origin, so it has slippery touch, and is good for a skin, and is called beauty hot spring (美人の湯), too. The moor spring is different from usual types of the hot springs, and the hot springs are recognized as the moor spring if those contain humus. The Makubetsu Onsen passed a rigorous screening in 1977, and has been appointed by Minister for the Environment, and is one of 15 nation insurance hot spring resorts in Hokkaido.

Aikoku Station

Aikoku Station (愛国駅) is a former station in Aikoku-cho, Obihiro city and is named "Aikoku Traffic Memorial Hall (愛国交通記念館)". Particularly, by slogans "From Country of Love to Happiness (愛の国から幸福へ)" created in 1973, tickets from Aikoku station (Aikoku means Country of Love in Japanese language) to Kofuku station (幸福駅) became very popular. However, Hiroo Line (広尾線) was abolished for money-losing routes. Although the Aikoku station was closed down, a station building was stored. Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge. Kofuku Station

Kofuku Station (幸福駅) is a former station in Kofuku-cho, Obihiro city. Because this is a lucky station name (kofuku means happiness in Japanese language), people became popular to get a ticket with its station name. Particularly, by slogans "From Country of Love to Happiness (愛の国から幸福へ)" created in 1973, the tickets from Aikoku station (愛国駅) (Aikoku means Country of Love in Japanese language) to Kofuku station became very popular. List of Day Trip Onsen

Visitors can take a day trip bath at the Park Hotel Yuyukan and the Hana-no-Yu. On the other hand, an accommodation without taking a day trip bath is Grandvrio Hotel.

Park Hotel Yuyukan

Park Hotel Yuyukan is a small-sized long-established onsen ryokan founded in 1975. An entrance fee to the bath facility is JPY 500. A chartered bath is provided, and an extra cost is JPY 2100 per 60 minutes. A staying is possible, too. By the way, a photography is prohibited at a public bathhouse.

There are 1 outdoor bath, 1 indoor bath, 1 whirlpool bath, 1 cold bath and 1 sauna at the bathhouse. The sunny tiled bathhouse with a mosaic is feeling good. The bathhouse is divided into 2 parts, a rooftop and a bathroom on the 1st floor, and those are linked by a staircase, so bathers can go up and down without wearing clothes.

The tiled U-shaped indoor bath is the size that about 8 people can take a bath, and the tiled square whirlpool bath is the size that about 6 people can take a bath, and both baths use 100% natural free flowing hot springs. The yield of hot spring is large, and the hot springs overflow from the baths abundantly.

The square outdoor cypress bath is the size that about 4 people can take a bath, and uses 100% natural free flowing hot springs. A sense of openness can not be felt because the outdoor bath with a roof is surrounded by blind fences. But a parking lot and trees can be seen when bathers stand up.

The hot springs are simple hot spring with moor hot spring, and are clear and brown and have tasteless and moor smell, and have smooth and slippery touch, and are not drinkable. The sum total of the hot spring ingredients are 0.955 g/kg. Shampoo and body soap are provided at the bathhouse. A restroom, a free hair dryer and a cold water dispenser are installed at a dressing room.

Tokachi Makubetsu Onsen Hana-no-Yu

Tokachi Makubetsu Onsen Hana-no-Yu is a luxurious bath house run by Route-inn Hotels, and has opened a business since 1991. Restaurant "Liberty" (休憩軽食ラウンジ リバティ) and Restaurant "Hanachaya" (花茶屋), too, and visitors for day trip bath can use the restraunt. In addition, there are Manga's department, Kid's department, a mah‐jongg room, a table tennis room, a karaoke room and resting rooms for fee, too. An entrance fee to the bath facility is JPY 950. They lend towels and an indoor clothes. A chartered bath is provided, and an extra cost is JPY 1100 on weekdays or JPY 1600 on weekends per 60 minutes. A staying is possible at the Grandvrio Hotel, too.

There are 1 outdoor bath, 2 outdoor pot baths, 2 indoor baths, 2 or 3 whirlpool baths, 1 sleeping bath, 1 cold bath and 1 or 2 saunas at a large public bathhouse. The bathhouses for men or women are replaced every 2 weeks. The sunny tiled bathhouse with large windows is feeling good. Most baths use natural free flowing hot springs. In addition, a mixed sauna room named Ondoru is provided, too, and an extra cost is JPY 200.
