Salt Broth Ramen with Light Taste and Umami -Maruhira in Kushiro-
July 6th, 2014
Maruhira (まるひら) is a popular ramen restaurant in Urami, Kushiro city. There is a building near Yonemachi park (米町公園). Because I heard from my fried that this restraunt was the long-established restaurant of Kushiro ramen founded in 1959, I visited here. Business start time is 09:30 a.m. However, the restaurant was already opened when I visited at 09:20. Because the preceding visitors sat at their seats, an owner thought to sorry probably that he kept visitors waiting and might open it. He is a kind man. There are some tables and family customers seem to enjoy. But long lines may be expected.
Thier menu has only 2 types of ramen, salt broth ramen (塩ラーメン) and soy sauce broth ramen (醬油ラーメン). Customers will choose a quantity of noodles. I ordered the salt broth ramen. The price was JPY 600. Approximately 10 minutes later, the salt broth ramen was served. Ingredients were roasted pork fillets, green onions, bamboo shoots and a dried laver.
The soup was clear and was very beautiful. It was light taste, but it had Umami. In addition, it was not too salty. The soup broth of vegetables would be tasty. This is my favorite taste. Noodles were made by Mihara noodles-making factory. This thinness is a characteristic of the Kushiro ramen. The customers entered the ramen restraunt one after another, too, it was approximately full around 09:40. They seemed to get on in business.
