Scraggy Basalt That Became Circular in Shape Is Very Rare Case Example in World -Kurumaishi in Nemuro-

Kurumaishi (車石) is under Hanasaki Lighthouse (花咲灯台) located in the southernern part of Nemuro city. The Hanasaki Lighthouse is located near an entrance of the Hanasaki Port (花咲港), and a foundatio of the Hanasaki Lighthouse is made of scraggy basalt and a part is the Kurumaishi. A parking lot and a restroom are only facilities. Admission free. The parking lot is free of charge. It takes about 5 minutes from the parking lot to the Hanasaki Lighthouse on foot, Yururi island and Pacific ocean can be looked at from the lighthouse. This Hanasaki Lighthouse was chosen as "50 Best Lighthouses in Japan". By the way, Speaking of Hanasaki, Hanasaki crab (花咲蟹) is famous. There is Daihachi Shokudo (大八食堂) that tourists can eat the Hanasaki crab near the Hanasaki Port.
As for the Kurumaishi, Lava was cooled about 65 million years ago, and basalt with about 7.5 m in width developed radially, it changed strangely shaped rocks. It was designated as a national monument. Because it looked like a shape of a wheel, It is called wheel stone. This case example is very rare in the world, it seems to be valuable academically. The state that scraggy basalt shows is strange, and tourists can enjoy a mysterious scene.
