[Kita Kogane-Kaizuka Shell Mound Park in Date] Remains of Jomon Period on Hill
Kita Kogane-Kaizuka Shell Mound Park
Kita Kogane-Kaizuka Shell Mound Park (北黄金貝塚公園) is a historic park between Date city and Muroran city, and is a village of Jomon people from 4,500 B.C. to 7,000 B.C.. Jomon village is rebuilt. The park has 5 shell mound traces in total, and pit dwelling houses are built, too. Japanese elementary school students often visit here as a school trip, but few tourists come here, so here is a little-known tourist attraction. A parking lot and Kita Kogane Information Center (北黄金情報センター) are at the site, and finds are exhibited at the building. Date Funkawan Jomon Festival (だて噴火湾縄文まつり) is held only in a day, late August. They close a business from December to March. Admission free. The parking lot is free of charge.
Look of Kita Kogane-Kaizuka Shell Mound Park
The park has a small gentle hill of about 20 m elevation, and the green hill is dotted with white shell mounds reproduced with scallop shells at present, and those look like remaining snow, so it is a strange view. The pacific ocean can be viewed on the hillside, and a conbination of the green land, the white land, the blue sea and the blue sky is comfortable. Watering place for a ritual and Jomon people's houses are reproduced near the Kita Kogane Information Center, and visitors can go in and out freely.
By the way, I was interested in a small forest near the Kita Kogane Information Center. A wooden path is built, and a storage for a squirrel is at the forest. Seasonal flowers bloom, and a typical atmosphere of Hokkaido can be enjoyed.
