[Kayanuma Onsen in Shibecha] Day Trip Bath and Japanese Crane Can Be Enjoyed at Kushiro Marshland National Park "Ikoi-no-Ie Kayanuma"

Kayanuma Onsen is a hot spring place in Shibecha town located in the northern part of Kushiro city, and is located at the northern tip of Kushiro-Shitstugen Wetland National Park (釧路湿原国立公園). Visitors turn along Mashu National Route (National Route 391), and go straight for around 2.5 km along Hokkaido Road 959, and the end of the road is the Kayanuma Onsen. Only Kushiro Marshland National Park "Ikoi-no-Ie Kayanuma" (くしろ湿原パーク 憩の家 かや沼) that is one of compound facilities called Kushiro-shitsugen Wetland Park (くしろ湿原パーク) built on a hill facing Lake Shirarutoro (シラルトロ湖). Except a hot spring facility, there are a park golf course, Shirarutoroko Campsite, Shirarutoro Walking Path (シラルトロ歩道) and Cho-no-Mori Observation Deck (蝶の森展望台). Unfortunately, restraunts, cafes, cafes, souvenir shops and convenience stores are not built around there. Kayanuma Station that is famous for feeding Japanese cranes is at the middle of the Hokkaido Road 959, and a lot of photographers come to take a picture of Japanese cranes with SL Winter Wetlands (SL冬の湿原号).

Tourist attractions relatively near here are the tourist attractions related with the Kushiro-Shitsugen Wetland National Park, for example, Lake Toro (塘路湖), Lake Takkobunuma (達古武沼), Sarubo Observatory (サルボ展望), Sarurun Observatory (サルルン展望台), Nihonmatsu Lookout (二本松展望台), Kottaro Marsh (コッタロ湿原展望台), Hosooka Observatory (細岡展望台) and Cape Miyajima. By the way, Nonstop buses does not run from Sapporo or Kushiro to here, but a courtesy bus for hotel guests of the Kushiro Marshland National Park "Ikoi-no-Ie Kayanuma" runs between near stations to the Kayanuma Onsen. * You need to make a reservation in advance.

Kushiro-Shitsugen Wetland National Park

Kushiro-Shitsugen Wetland National Park (釧路湿原国立公園) that 500,000 people visit every year is a famous sightseeing spot in the Eastern Hokkaido and is the largest wetland with 18,290 ha in Japan. It was designed as a wetland under Ramsar Convention in 1980, and developments had been limited strictly. There are many rare animals inhabit and plants including Japanese cranes, Blakiston's fish-owls that are only 100 in Hokkaido, Iijima Ruriboshiyanma (イイジマルリボシヤンマ) that is the remaining specy in the glacial epoch, Itou fish (イトウ) that is said to be a very rare fish, Kushiro jacob's ladder (クシロハナシノブ) that is the remaining specy in the glacial epoch, Bogberry and Yachibouzu (ヤチボウズ). Kushiro Marshland National Park "Ikoi-no-Ie Kayanuma" is a small-sized onsen ryokan founded in 1978, and is famous for seeing Yezo Deer and Japanese Crane, and is well-known for body warmed by very hot springs. An entrance fee to a bath facility is JPY 450. Restraunt "Shiroitori (* it menas white bird)" is at the building, too, and visitors for day trip bath can use the restraunt. A staying is possible, too, and reasonable accommodation charge is popular.

There are 1 open-air bath, 2 indoor baths, 1 indoor bath surrounded by rocks, 1 cascading bath at a large public bathhouse. Indoor baths are set at both sides at slim tiled bathhouse. In addition, the bathhouse is not large. The indoor bath named "Gensen-no-Yu" is the size that about 8 people can take a bath, and has a half bath place. Water temperature is 45-46 C, as its name suggests, the indoor bath uses 100% pure natural free flowing hot springs. It is very hot, if you get used to the water temperature, you can take a bath.

The indoor bath named "Iyashi-no-Yu" is the size that about 5 people can take a bath. Water temperature is 42-43 C, and the bath uses 100% natural free flowing hot springs. The indoor bath surrounded by rocks is the largest indoor bath that about 10 people can take a bath. Water temperature is 40-42 C, the indoor bath uses 100% pure natural free flowing hot springs with adding water, and is suitable for taking a long bath. The cascading bath seats 1 person. Water temperature is 42-43 C, and the bath uses 100% natural free flowing hot springs.

The open-air bath made of hinoki cypress is the size that about 10 people can take a bath. Water temperature is 42-44 C, and the bath uses 100% natural free flowing hot springs. Unfortunately, bathers can not look over Lake Shirarutoro because of trees in a summer. A sense of openness can not be felt. But the lake can be seen because of fallen leaves in a winter.

The hot springs are sodium chloride spring, and are clear and light yellow and have salty taste and no smell. The sum total of the hot spring ingredients are 9.765 g/kg. The hot springs are drinkable, when I drank those with my hands from gushing hot springs, it is hard to drink because of very hot. I tried to drink several times, and it tasted very salty last. It seems to be effect for Chronic digestive diseases and Chronic constipation. Shampoos and body soaps are provided at the bathhouse. A restroom and free hair dryers are installed at a dressing room.
