Kawakami Onsen

Kawakami Onsen (川上温泉) is a hot spring place in Kyogoku town located in the southwestern part of Sapporo city. Only Kawakami Onsen is built along Shiribetsu National Route (National Route 276). The distance is around 4 km away from the center of the Kyogoku, but Kyogoku Fukidashi Park (京極噴出し公園) is relatively near here. Speaking of tasty restaurants in the Kyogoku, Meisui Udon Nonosan (名水うどん野々傘), Isshinan (一心庵) and Cafe Cafe-mocha (自家焙煎珈琲かふぇもか店) are popular in particular. I ate Udon noodle at the Meisui Udon Nonosan. It was so tasty.

Various things can be enjoyed all the year round in Niseko. For example, Cherry blossoms can be enjoyed in a spring, trecking, ski gondra, rafting and hot air ballooning can be enjoyed in a summer, fall foliage can be enjoyed in an autumn, and snowshoes can be enjoyed in the winter. By the way, a nonstop bus does not run from Sapporo or New Chitose Airport.

Kyogoku Fukidashi Park

Fukidashi Park (ふきだし公園) is in Niseko, Kyogoku town located in the western part of Sapporo city and is adjacent to roadside station "Home of Famous Mineral Water (名水の郷きょうごく)". Mt. Yotei (羊蹄山) mineral waters of 80,000 tons a day have been gushing out around upstream, and the mineral waters have been building up around downstream, and there are two ponds. These mineral waters are famous for tasty water that was chosen as 100 selections of Japanese famous mineral water. After rain and snow which fell around Mt. Yotei are filtered into the underground for nearly 70 years, those seem to gush out. Those waters contain abundant minerals. It is cold with 6 degrees Celsius on the average, and the taste is mellow. List of Day Trip Onsen

Visitors can take day trip bath at the Kawakami Onsen.

Kawakami Onsen

Kawakami Onsen is a small-sized long-established onsen ryokan founded in 1925. The appearance and the interior decoration have an atmosphere such as the Showa period. Old signboards of Sprite and Coke catch visitor's eyes, and its appearance looks like a Japanese old style store, so a madam says "A lot of people have misunderstood this onsen is closed". But it opens a business surely. An entrance fee to the bath facility is JPY 500. A staying is possible, too.

Natural Hot Springs!

There is 1 indoor bath at a public bathroom. The small tiled bathroom is like a typical of a public bathroom at Japanse ordinary ryokan. But a conbination of white tiles and blue tiles is very good, and I feel it is comfortable.

Indoor Bath

The tiled indoor bath is the size that about 4 people can take a bath, and uses heated 100% natural warm springs. By the way, the bathers open a valve if the bathers want to heat the hot springs. A faucet for cold water is set, too, so it is allowed to add the water for lowering the water temperature. There are ruins of an outdoor bath, and I guess that bathers used to take a bath comfortably while looking at Mt. Yotei (羊蹄山). I guess that the hot springs are used as the hot water of showers and faucets.

The hot springs are simple warm spring, and are clear and colorless and have neither taste nor smell. Soft springs with abundant nature’s beauty mineral, and those remind me of the mineral water of the Kyogoku Fukidashi Park. Shampoos and body soaps are provided at the bathroom. A restroom is installed at a dressing room.
