Lined Gingko Trees with Fall Foliage in Hokkaido University (北海道大学イチョウ並木) is a beauty spot for fall foliage near Sapporo Station. It takes about 1 minute from Sapporo Subway Namboku Line Kita 12 Jo Station (地下鉄南北線「北12条駅」) to here. The Hokkaido University is commonly called Hokudai (北大), and becomes popular nationwide. About 70 gingko trees are planted along a road with about 350 m in length from Kita 13jo Gate (北13条門) to a road running north-south. The gingko trees has planted since 1939, and Prior to that point, cherry trees and maple trees were planted. The best time to see is from late October to early November. Usually, a lot of tourists come to the Hokkaido University, and a lot of the tourists come particularly in this season. Admission free.

Hokkaido University Konyo Festival (北大金葉祭) is held on the weekend in the best time to see, and it is lit up from 18:00 to 21:00. A lot of the visitors come very much, and it has an atmosphere like New Year's visit to a shrine. A stall stand opens a business. Watch out for cars because the road lined with the gingko trees is not closed to traffic.

A large campus area of 1.78 km2 has a lot of various trees, and those fall foliage are full in bloom here and there. Those look very marvelous. Lined Poplar Trees (ポプラ並木) with the fall foliage can be seen. By the way, the totl site area of the Hokkaido University include various forests used for research is about 66,000 km2, and is comparable with about 1/570 of Japanese land. It is very vast site.
