Rice bowl is a Japanese dish that rice topped with various toppings in a bowl. It is said that Grilled Eel Rice Bowl (鰻丼), the oldest rice bowl in Japan, was born in Edo Period. Then Tempura Rice Bowl (天丼), Fukagawa Rice Bowl(深川丼) and so on were born, and Beef Rice Bowl (牛丼), Pork Cutlet (カツ丼), Seafood Rice Bowl (海鮮丼), Tuna Rice Bowl (鉄火丼), Starchy Sauce Rice Bowl (中華丼), Chicken and Egg Rice bowl (親子丼) and so on are served in the whole of the Japan. In the Hokkaido, various rice bowls can be eaten, too. Since the Hokkaido is called “Kingdom of Cooking Ingredients (食材王国)”, fresh vegetables, fresh seafood and tasty meats are famous. Many types of rice bowls are served, for example seafood rice bowl in the whole of the Hokkaido and local speciality rice bowl. I introduce my tried rice bowls.

Seafood Rice Bowl is a bowl meal that rice is topped with fresh seafood, and can be eaten in the whole of Hokkaido. A lot of restaurants basically use sliced raw seafood such as prawn, cuttlefish, salmon, tuna, scallop, and salmon roe, surf clam, sea urchin and crab are used depending on restaurants. In many cases, fresh seafood are dished up abundantly in the Hokkaido, and the appearance looks luxurious, and I think that people are surprised at the taste if they have never eaten Hokkaido’s food. Suttsu Shirasu Kaikan (すっつ しらす会館) is a restraunt opend in 2012 in Suttsu town located in the southwestern part of Otaru city, and faces National Route 229. Marutoshi Yoshino Shoten corp. (有限会社マルトシ吉野商店) runs it, and Mr. Toshihiko Yoshino (吉野 寿彦) is a company president.
