Urban Oasis with Beautiful Cherry Blossom and Fall Foliage -Hokkaido Governor's Official Residence in Sapporo-
April 7th, 2016
Hokkaido Governor's Official Residence (北海道知事公館) was built in the center of Sapporo city in 1936. There is very large land of 734 m2 in the downtown, and it is called an urban oasis because the ground is covered with green plants.
There are a mysterious stone and statues that Mr. Kan Yasuda (安田侃) created and a stylish building designed by the registered tangible cultural property in the site, and tourists can enjoy a beautiful garden. The garden is beautiful in a season of the fresh green, but it is beautiful in the season of fall foliage, too. Admission free. Tourists can enter the building.
Tourists can enter the building without a fee. The building was built by a technique of a Northern European wooden building called half timber and would be the considerably modern building in those days. I feel the history in furniture, too. There are a conference room and drawing rooms and those are still used.
