[Gomi Onsen in Shimokawa] Day Trip Bath and Carbonated Spring Called "Hot Springs without Putting Heavy Tax on Heart" in Europe Can Be Enjoyed

Gomi Onsen (五味温泉) is a hot spring place in Shimokawa town located between Asahikawa city and Wakkanai city. Only Gomi Onsen is built at about 200 m above sea level in a mountain. The Gomi Onsen is well-known for carbon dioxide cold spring that gushes out at only 2 hot spring places with together Aibetsu Kyowa Onsen (あいべつ協和温泉) in Hokkaido, but there is not much yeild of the hot springs. In Europe, the carbonated springs are called "The hot spring without putting heavy tax on heart", and a type of hot springs does not take a toll on bather's body. The Shimokawa is famous for forest resources from old days. A wooden accommodation "Eco-house Mikuwa (エコハウス美桑)" is built beside the Gomi Onsen on the same site. Forests around the Gomi Onsen are named "Forest for Experience (体験の森)", and wooden paths are built to enjoy forest bathing. The distance between the Gomi Onsen and the center of the Shimokawa is around 6 km, Unfortunately, restraunts, cafes, cafes, souvenir shops and convenience stores are not built around the Gomi Onsen.

It is the origin of the Gomi Onsen that Mr. Kanzaburo Gomi (五味勘三郎) found gushing cold springs in 1905 when he went hunting in a winter. After that, he built an onsen hut in 1910, and was named after his family name. It was shutted dwon and opened many times, and this facility has opened a business since 1974. A famous tourist attraction in the Shimokawa is Great Wall of Shimokawa (万里長城), and Great Wall of Shimokawa Fesitivale (万里長城祭) is held in late May. In addition, Speaking of tasty restaurants in the Shimokawa, Yanai Cake Shop (やない菓子舗) is popular in particular. Shimokawa is well-known as an Udon producing center, too, and Shimokawa Udon Festivale is held in late August.

List of Day Trip Onsen

Visitors can take a day trip bath only at the Gomi Onsen. On the other hand, an accommodation without taking a day trip bath is the Eco-House Mikuwa.

Gomi Onsen

Gomi Onsen is a small-sized long-established onsen ryokan founded in 1910. An entrance fee to a bath facility is JPY 400. Restraunt "Rindo" (お食事処りんどう) is at the building, too, and visitors for day trip bath can use the restraunt. A staying is possible, too.

There are 1 outdoor bath, 3 indoor baths, 1 cold bath and 1 sauna at a public bathhouse. The tiled bathhouse is not large. But the sunny bathhouse with large windows is feeling good. They have 5 baths, but only 1 bath uses heated cold springs. Others use heated water or water. The large indoor bath beside the windows is the size that about 20 people can take a bath, and the small indoor bath beside the windows is the size that about 10 people can take a bath.

The indoor bath surrounded by rocks is the size that about 6 people can take a bath, and uses heated light yellow cold springs. A faucet for drinking cold springs is set on a wall, and a cup is provided, too.

The outdoor bath surrounded by rocks is the size that about 3 people can take a bath. Because it is surrounded by walls and a roof, a sense of opneness can not be felt. But bathers can forest bathing in front of trees.

The hot springs are carbon dioxide sodium and calcium and magnesium bicarbonate cold spring, and are opaque and light yellow and have carbonated taste and metallic odor, and are drinkable. It seems to be effective for Chronic digestive diseases, Chronic constipation, Diabetes, Gout, Liver ailment. It was carbonated water such as Perrier, and I drank it too much just carelessly. The sum total of the hot spring ingredients are 3.915 g/ke. Shampoos and body soaps are provided at the bathhouse. A restroom and free hair dryers are installed at a dressing room.
