[La Fleur in Ashibetsu] Tasty Gatatan Ramen Can Be Eaten at Roadside Station

Restraunt La Fleur (レストラン ラ・フルール) is a restraunt on the 2nd floor of Roadside Station "Star Plaza Ashibetsu (スタープラザ芦別)" along National Route 38 in Shibetsu city located in the southwestern part of Asahikawa city, and is run by Starlight Hotel that is famous for Ashibetsu Onsen (芦別温泉). The restraunt is well-known for serving Gatatan (ガタタン), and Ramen, Fried Rice and Rice Bowls, and so on are also served. The Gatatan is a local speciality dish of the Ashibetsu, and is salt broth thick and stewed Chinese soup including vegetables, edible wild plants and seafood. Mr. Bungonosuke Murai (村井豊後之亮) repatriated from former Manchurian to the Ashibetsu after the war, and served the Gatatan at Chinese Restaurant "Koraku (幸楽)" for the first time. He got a hint from Manchurian home-cooked meal "Gedatang (疙瘩湯)". The Koraku has been closed down, and Unfortunately, the well-known Gatatan Restraunt "Horaiken (宝来軒)" went out of business at the end of October, 2015. But the Gatata can be eaten at about 10 restaurants in the Ashibetsu.
The restraunt is large, and counter seats and table seats are provided at the building, and there are a lot of table seats, so I guess that family customers also enjoy meals. Seats along windows have a good view, so visitors can have meals while seeing Sorachi River, Ashibetsu Ski Ground and Hokkaido Daikannon.
Ashibetsu Onsen (芦別温泉) is a hot spring place in Ashibetsu city located in the southern part of Asahikawa city. There are Starlight Hotel Seiyukan (スターライトホテル 星遊館) and Ashibetsu Onsen (芦別温泉) along Yubari National Route (National Route 452). The hot spring place is surrounded by a forest, and except those, Unfortunately, restraunts, cafes, cafes, souvenir shops and convenience stores are not built. Ramen of Hokkaido
Ramen is a noodle soup dish topped with ingredients. It is said that Chinese noodles is the root of the ramen, and there are various theories, for example, Mr. Mistukuni Tokugawa (徳川光圀 * Mitokomon (水戸黄門)) ate the ramen in 1697 for the first time in Japan or the first ramen was that Keitaimen noodles (経帯麺) served in 1488 was written in Biryueken Diary (蔭涼軒日録). Noodle soup dishes were spread out in Japan because Nanking noodles (南京そば) was served in various China Towns, Japan. In Hakodate with a China Town, Yowaken (養和軒) served the Nanking noodles in 1884. In Sapporo, it is a root of Sapporo Ramen that a noodle soup dish was cooked by Mr. Wang Wen Zai (王 文彩), a chief chef of Takeya Shokudo (竹家食堂), in 1922. Houran (芳蘭), a branch of the Takeya Shokudo, opened a business in 1933 in Asahikawa. Asahikawa Ramen, Sapporo Ramen and Hakodate Ramen called the 3 Major Ramen in Hokkaido were born. I entered the restraunt at 11:30, just after opening, and was first one. But visitors entered the restraunt one after another after I entered. The Restraunt La Fleur was popular, after all. Most of the visitors order Gatatan-type dishes. They visited here to eat the Gatatan, too. By the way, kinds of the Gatatan have plenty of variety, and there are Gatatan Ramen (ガタタンラーメン), Gatatan Fried Noodle (ガタタン焼きそば), Gatatan Fried Rice (ガタタンチャーハン), Gatatan Udon (ガタタンうどん), and so on on a menu, and Curry Broth Gatatan Ramen can be eaten, too.
I might as well eat the Gatatan, and I wanted to eat royal road of the Gatatan, and ordered the Gatatan Ramen. The price was JPY 920. Afer waiting for about 10 minutes, the Gatatan Ramen was served. The appearance looked like Ramen with Seafood in Thick Starchy Sauce (広東麺). The thickness of soup was stronger more than ordinary Ramen with Seafood in Thick Starchy Sauce. A lot of ingredients were in the soup, too! That looked healthy. The taste was light, but it had umami. A person who prefers rich taste can order a rich taste type Gatatan Ramen, too. Noodles specializing in the Gatatan were made by Sugawara Noodles Factory (菅原製麺所). Those resembled egg noodles. I was full.
