Yurigahara Park
Yurigahara Park (百合が原公園) is a comprehensive park of 254,000 m2 in Kita ward, Sapporo city, and has opened since 1983, and is away from the center of the Sapporo. As its name suggests, lilies collected from all over the world are planted. * The Yurigahara means "A liliy field" in English. Here is famous for enjoying flowers and plants through the year, and about 6,400 types of the plants can be seen. I feel here is not a park but a garden, and think that it is comparable to famous gardens in Hokkaido, and the park that is able to be enjoyed in the Sapporo is one of the lagest gardens in the Hokkaido. Here is a peaceful place for Sapporo citizens, and I often see strolling local people, and a lot of families bring their tents to play themselves all day. Admission free. Parking lots are free of charge.

The large park has rich facilities. Varous gardens, Yurigahara Midori-no-Center (百合が原緑のセンター), World Gardens (世界の庭園), Lily Train (リリートレイン), a park golf course, a gateball course, a playground space (遊具広場), Restaurant Yurigara (レストラン百合が原), Garden Shop (ガーデンショップ), Silo Observation Deck (サイロ展望台), public restrooms and 3 parking lots are built at the park, and a greenhouse at the Yurigahara Midori-no-Center, the World Gardens, and the Lily Train are charged. A fee of the greenhouse and the World Gardens is JPY 130. A fare of the Lily Train is JPY 360. The train runs at the site, and is popular with children. It is also said that the train is the face of the Yurigahara Park. In addition, various events such as a strolling gathering are held, too.

SAPPORO
Sapporo (札幌) that about 1,960,000 people live is the largest city in Hokkaido. Although there are various theories, its origin of the name is "Dry Big River (乾いた大きな川)" in Ainu language. A population of the Sapporo is the 4th largest city after Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya in japan, and the population accounts for 36 % of Hokkaido's population! So the Sapporo has been flourished as the center of the Hokkaido. The area of the Sapporo is 1,121.26 km2, and is about as big as Hong Kong, and is the 7th largest city in the Hokkaido. The Sapporo is also famous as a tourist city, and about 15 million people come. As for a climate, it is hot that temperature rises to nearly 25 degrees in a summer, but it is easy to live without moisture. I always feel a little cool. It is cold that temperature falls to nearly -10 degrees in a winter, and amount of snowfall sometimes has more than 1 m. Read More

Lily
The World Lily Gardens is the largest garden in the park, and about 100 types of lilies collected from all over the world are plante at site of 50,000 m2, and are bloom from mid June to early September. The best time to see the lilies is mid July. Vivid colors are covered with a star-shaped flower bed and a central flower bed. Some places are photogenic, so I think that visitors can feel excited.

Muscari and Tulip
The Muscari Walk is a garden beside the Lawn Square. The muscari and tulips are planted along a path covered with wood chips and around the Silo Ovservation Deck. The best time to see those is from early May to mid May. Colorful flowers along the path are very beautiful. Visitors can enter the Silo Overvation Deck for free. A lot of the visitors come on Saturday and Sunday.

Wisteria Pergola
The Wisteria Pergola is a part of the World Lily Gardens. The best time to see the wisteria is from mid May to late May. Some wisteria trees spread over on about 10 m square of iron poles, and are in full bloom. The wisteria blossoms are purple and white, a combination of those is good.

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
