[Farm Tomita in Nakafurano] Lavender Field That 1 Million Tourists Visit

Farm Tomita (ファーム富田) is a popular tourist flower garden in Nakafurano town located in the southeastern part of Asahikawa city, and is a representative lavender farm of Furano that is famous for the lavender. Except the lavender, a lot of colorful flowers are planted, so 1 million tourists visit here every year. * A population of the Nakafurano is around 5000. This farm is open from late April to early November. Thier fields are roughly divived into 2 places, the Farm Tomita and Lavender East, and each places are at a distance. Admission free. The parking lot is free of charge. Temporary Lavender-batake Station (ラベンダー畑駅) is open from June to late October. Flower Fields No Trespassing !
It is the origin of the Farm Tomita as the lavender farm that Mr. Tadao Tomita (富田忠雄) has cultivated the lavender since 1958. They are located in the Nakafurano, but speaking of the lavender of the Furano, it often implies the lavender of the Farm Tomita. * Furano region is divided into 4 parts, Furano city, Kamifurano town, Nakafurano town and Minamifurano town. In old days, farm-owners in the Furano region gave up growing the lavender, and it was in a critical situation that the lavender fields might became extinct. But Mr. Tomita has been growing the lavender, and it became finally the largest tourist attraction in the Furano region. It is said that he was a legendary farm-owner. * He was dead in 2015.
The distance is around 2 km away from the center of the Nakafurano, and restraunts, cafes, and a convenience store are built there. Hokuseiyama Lavender Garden (北星山ラベンダー園) and Saika-no-Sato Sasaki farm (彩香の里佐々木ファーム) are relatively near here.
Hokuseiyama Lavender Garden
Hokuseiyama Lavender Garden (北星山ラベンダー園) is a flower garden in Nakafurano town located in the southeastern part of Asahikawa city, and is originally a ski resort on the mountainside of Mt. Hokuseiyama with an altitude of about 310 m. In a summer, 4 types of lavenders, Lavandin, Misato Sekka (美郷雪華), Noshi Hayazaki (濃紫早咲) and Okamurasaki (おかむらさき), and flowers such as Poppy and Salvia are planted on a ski slope of around 4 ha, and the difference of elevation is about 100 m, so vertical flower fields can be enjoyed. The beautiful flower season is from late June to early September, and it is said that July is the best season that the lavender is in full bloom in particular. Saika-no-Sato (彩香の里) is a tourist flower garden in Nakafurano town located in the southeastern part of Asahikawa city, and was choosen as a shooting place for Japanese Movie "LOVE LETTERS at SIXTY". Colorful flowers such as Lavender and Sage are planted on flower field of 6 ha, hillside with an altitude of about 310 m. The Saika-no-Sato was founded by Sasaki Farm in 1988, I do not know the details, but SSVR7 corp that deals with osmetics in South Korea has run since 2014, and the Sasaki Farm seems to maintain the garden as Saika-no-Oka. The Saika-no-Sato is open from June to September, and it is said that July is the best season that the lavender is in full bloom in particular. By the way, speaking of the tasty restraunts in the Nakafurano, Auberge erba stella (オーベルジュ エルバステラ), Farm Restaurant Azemichi Yorimichi (ファームレストランあぜ道より道), the Farm Tomita, Yamanaka (やまなか) and Popura Farm (ポプラファーム) are popular in particular. I ate a meal and sweets at the Farm Restaurant Azemichi Yorimichi, the Farm Tomita and the Popura Farm, and those were tasty.
Farm Restaurant Azemichi Yorimichi (ファームレストランあぜ道より道) is a popular restaurant near Lavender East of Farm Tomita (ファーム富田のラベンダーイースト) in Kamifurano town. 5 local women farmers wanted visitors to eat their vegetables, and they have opened the restaurant. A characteristic of this restaurant is vegetable after all. Santa-no-Hige of Popura Farm

Express Bus "Furano-go" (高速ふらの号) runs between Sapporo and the Furano, and Express Bus "Lavender-go" (ラベンダー号) runs between Asahikawa and the Furano. In addition, North Liner, an express bus, is in service between the Asahikawa and Obihiro, and stop in the Furano or Biei, too, so people can move more rapidly than common transportation facilities. In the Furano and Biei, some rent-a-car companies open a business, so tourists can drive a rental car.

Hanabito House (花人の舎), Dried Flower House (ドライフラワーの舎), Gallery Fleur (ギャラリーフルール), Perfume Workshop (香水の舎), Proche House (プロシェの舎), Potpourri House (ポプリの舎), Sakiwai Trail (倖の小路), Flower House (花の舎), Poppy House (ポピーの舎), Forest House (森の舎), Distillery Workshop (蒸留の舎), Rapport House (ラポートの舎), Sakiwai House (倖の舎), Arbre House (アルブの舎) and Café René (カフェ ルネ) are built on the site, and the buildings go well with the flower fields, and have some facilities such as restraunts, cafes, souvenir shops and restrooms. Lavender East is one of the Japan's largest lavender field surrounded by rice fields, and the distance is around 4 km away from the Farm Tomita, and 90,000 lavenders are planted on the field of about 14 ha, and it is open only in July. There are a obsevation deck, Lavare House (ラワーレの舎), Fragrant Breeze Hill (風香る丘), a restroom and a parking lot on the site. Lavender East Limited lavender white chocolate soft serve ice cream is sold, too. Blue world can be seen from the observation deck. In addition, the lavender field with Tokachidake Mountain Range (十勝岳連峰) as a backdrop can be enjoyed, too. Touring Lavender Bus is served to look around without walking for about 20 minutes. A fare of the bus is JPY 200.
