Surf Clam Curry and Rice with Special Product Surf Clam of Tomakomai -Chako in Tomakomai-
September 6th, 2015
Ramen Chako (ラーメン茶湖) is a popular ramen restraunt at the Purattominato market (ぷらっとみなと市場) in Minato-machi, Tomakomai city and has a history of over 20 years. They moved to the Purattominato market in 2009. It was known for tasty ramen, and surf clam curry and rice (ホッキカレーライス) seemed to be tasty, too, so I visited here around 7:00 a.m. on weekdays. Chako will be good at a dish of the surf clam, because Tomakomai is the largest catch of the surf clam in Japan.
The restraunt had an atomosphere such as a good old morning market restaurant. There were many tables, so family customers seem to enjoy. I sat at the table and ordered the surf clam rice and curry with a good reputation. The price is JPY 680.
Approximately 3 minutes later, the surf clam curry and rice was served. Spicy taste spread in my mouth when I ate at once. But it was not too spicy. I finded out a piece of the surf clam and I ate, and the reason was probably because it was fresh, the surf clam had a chewy texture. This is the dish that blend the surf clam, a special product of Tomakomai, and the rice and curry called the Japanese national staple together well. They also serve delux surf clam curry, it is the curry and rice with a large serving an increase of the surf clam for a person who is not enough to eat large portion of the surf clam.
