[Tsuki in Abashiri] Conveyor Belt Sushi with Large and Tasty Sushi Items That Does Not Turn
CONTENTS
Tsuki
Sushi Dining Tsuki (鮨ダイニング月) is a popular conveyor belt sushi restraunt (回転寿司店) near Komaba Shopping Town in Komaba, Abashiri city, and has reopened since 2005. Seiwa corp. (有限会社 清和) runs it, and sister restraunts are Kaitenzushi Big Sun (回転寿しビッグ・サン) and Sushi Dining KIYOMASA. The appearance and the interior decoration are stylish, and the ceiling is high, so comfortable space spreads out. The building is large, and counter seats and table seats are provided, so I guess that even family customers enjoy meals.

By the way, "Dreamint Okhotsk-go (ドリーミントオホーツク号)", an express bus, runs between the Sapporo and the Abashiri. Besides, Rent-a-car can be rented around Abashiri Station.
ABASHIRI
Abashiri (網走) that about 40,000 people live is the 20th largest tourist city in Hokkaido, and is one of regional hub cities of the Northeastern Hokkaido area. It is also a fisheries city facing the Sea of Okhotsk, and Crab, Idiot Fish, Whale and Salmon are famous as a local specialty. As for a climate, it is chilly that temperature rises to nearly 25 degrees in a summer, and it is cold that temperature falls to nearly -5 degrees in a winter, and it does not snow hard, too. It may be said that the Abashiri is relativelly warm climate in the Hokkaido. The Abashiri is well-known for drift ice reaching to the coast, and is famous as a winter tourist spot, too, and is roughly divided into 2 areas, a old city area (a neighborhood of Abashiri River mouth) and a new suburbs area. The new suburbs area is more developed than the old city area, and has more restaurants than the old city area. Read More

Sushi of Hokkaido
Sushi is a rice dish using various types of ingredients such as raw seafood, and Hand-rolled Sushi (握り寿司) is most famous, and others are Rolled Sushi (巻きずし), Sushi Pocket (いなり寿司 * Inarizushi), Scattered Sushi (バラ寿司・ちらし寿司), Pressed Sushi (押し寿司), Izushi Fermented Sushi (飯寿し) and so on. In Japan, Fermented Sushi (なれずし) has been eaten since Nara Period, and old Japanese made sushi as a fermented food. In Edo Period, the Hand-rolled Sushi was born, and was popular with Edo people in Edo Castle Town. It was not a dish but a snack in those days. Since Meiji peropd, sushi using sashimi has become widespread in the Japan, and a bite-sized vinegared rice has become common. So the sushi refers to the Hand-rolled Sushi in a large number of cases. Conveyor Belt Sushi
I visited here around 16:00 on a weekday. No one enjoyed their meals. I sat a counter seat. The restraunt was a conveyor belt sushi restraunt, but sushi did not move along a conveyor belt, so sushi chefs made hand-rolled sushi. Still they gave a good service for me. Everyone was very kind.

I ordered a dish of octopus head (JPY 150), a dish of sweet shrimp (JPY 190), a dish of seared flounder edge (JPY 240), a dish of whelk (JPY 240), a dish of scallop (JPY 240), a dish of masu salmon (JPY 240) and a dish of floundera flatfish (JPY 240). The masu salmon and the floundera flatfish recommended by the restraunt were caught in Abashiri.

Sushi items were large, and were really filling. Those were so good! I was glad that seafood caught in the Abashiri could be eaten. It was the seared flounder edge that I was impressed in particular. Fat of the flatfish seasoned with light salt spread out in my mouth. This was really tasty! Thanks for the tasty sushi!

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
