[Mintaru in Shintoku] Cheese Assortment Can Be Savored 5 Types of Tastes
Mintaru
Mintaru (ミンタル) is a popular cafe in Shintoku town located in the northwestern direction of Obihiro city, and is relatively near Shintoku Junior High School. The Mintaru means "A public square" in Ainu language. Kyorogakusha (共働学舎) that supports for autistic people and mentally-handicapped people runs it. The Mintaru serve dairy products produced in the Kyorogakusha, and visitors can eat light meals using their products. Karinpani (カリンパニ) for experiencing making of butter and cheese is also built at the site. A garden is around the building, and it is very comfortable space. A goat is bred at the site, too. I think that here make visitors feel a typical of Hokkaio.

The building from the top looks like a cutted pineapple, and is impressive. It uses woods abundantly, and the warmth of the woods can be felt. The cafe has a high ceiling, and I like spacious space.

Cheese
I visited here to eat a pizza around 15:00 on a weekday, but it could be ordered from 11:00 to 14:30. Therefore I ordered today's cheese assortments. The price was JPY 850. A toast with raclette is also popular.

About 10 minutes later, the today's cheese assortments were served. The cheese were 5 types, Sasayuki (笹ゆき), Petit Plezile (プチ・プレジール), Rela He Mintaru (レラ・ヘ・ミンタル), Gyunyuyama Cream Cheese (牛乳山クリームチーズ) and Coban (コバン).

The Sasayuki is matured well with suppressing relatively unique strong mildew smell by action of striped bamboo's enzyme and nutrient composition. It has a peculiar flavor, and I guess that it goes well with Sake.

The Petit Plezile means "Small joy" in French. This cheese is matured by yeast fungus not mildew. The good taste of milk is fulled at small cheese. This cheese tastes rather sour, and I guess that it goes well with Wine.

The Rela He Mintaru means "An amusement place for wind" in Ainu language. The sweetness of milk can be felt, and it is mild. Everyone from adults to children can enjoy it, and the cheese is used for meals, snacks and so on. It is usable in wide cooking uses, and does not have a peculiar flavor, and I want to eat the cheese on a toast. I guess that it goes well with a wine.

The Gyunyuyama Cream Cheese is a hand-made cheese using separating cream from milk naturally. It is cream cheese of limited production only in the seasons for a lot of milk fat. It has a light taste, and tastes a little sweet.

The Coban is a mildew cheese with milky flavor, and is more smooth than Camembert cheese. I guess that it goes well with bread, and it does not have peculiar flavor.

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
