October 8th, 2014
Donguri (どんぐり) is a famous bakery founded in 1983 in Sapporo city, and is run by Donguri corp. Mr. Masayuki Nojiri (野尻 雅之) is a comapny president. The head office is in Shiroishi ward, and some branch shops open a business in the Sapporo. The bakery is well-known for making Chikuwa Bread (ちくわパン * Tube‐shaped Fish Paste Bread), and has been laoved by Sapporo people.
The Chikuwa Bread from the Donguri was sold at a high school that my niece went to. Those were very tasty, so absorbed students appeared one after another. Since I heard from my niece such a telling, I could not help eating it. Therefore I went to the head office. The head office was not so large, but varisou types of breads were displayed closely. When I entered the bakery, about 8 people were buying breads. Customers came one after another, so I thougth that the Donguri was popular, after all.
Sapporo (札幌) that about 1,960,000 people live is the largest city in Hokkaido. Although there are various theories, its origin of the name is "Dry Big River (乾いた大きな川)" in Ainu language. A population of the Sapporo is the 4th largest city after Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya in japan, and the population accounts for 36 % of Hokkaido's population! So the Sapporo has been flourished as the center of the Hokkaido. The area of the Sapporo is 1,121.26 km2, and is about as big as Hong Kong, and is the 7th largest city in the Hokkaido. The Sapporo is also famous as a tourist city, and about 15 million people come. As for a climate, it is hot that temperature rises to nearly 25 degrees in a summer, but it is easy to live without moisture. I always feel a little cool. It is cold that temperature falls to nearly -10 degrees in a winter, and amount of snowfall sometimes has more than 1 m. Article is here
A lots of types of breads caught my eye that I could not decide. Finally, I purchased a Chikuwa Bread, a Salt Bread (塩パン), a Dried Young Sardines and Boiled Potato Bread (しらすポテトパン) and a Green Soybean Bread (枝豆パン). The prices were JPY 571 in total. I got a wet towel, and decided to eat those at outside break space.
First I ate the Chikuwa Bread with a exceptional reputation. Tuna mayonnaise was in the tubular fish meat, and it resembled a nibbles for drinks. However, it was unexpected discovery that bread went well with tubular fish meat. It was tasty! The Salt Bread was very simple, and tasted bread. But It was so hard to chew, and I came to have a pain in my chin.
The Green Soybean Bread had thick and rich green soybean taste, and tasted a little cheese. As for the Dried Young Sardines and Boiled Potato Bread, the dried young sardines and seasoned cod roe mayonnaise were put on the bread. A boiled potato was wrapped in the bread. When I ate it, it became the seasoned cod roe potato taste. I chose only the breads went well with nibbles for drinks.
