Kanamori Red Brick Warehouses
The Kanamori Red Brick Warehouses were built to storage supplies of the port by Mr. Kumashiro Watanabe (渡邉熊四郎), one of the 4 Hakodate Greatest Peoples, in late 1800. A beer hall used to open a business in 1898, and it was an origin of Hakodate Beer Hall (函館ビヤホール). The port functions were not required by varying means of transportation, and red brick warehouses finished an original role, and have been designed as "traditional buildings". Kanamori Hall (金森ホール), Kanamori-Yobutsukan (金森洋物館), History Plaza (函館ヒストリープラザ) and Bay Hakodate (BAYはこだて) are open to the public at present. Cafes, the beer hall and souvenir shops are opened for sightseeing.
The Bay Hakodate has a canal, and the Shichizai Bridge cross the canal. Although the old bridge is narrow, cars run on the bridge. That is a popular shooting spot, and the red brick warehouses with Mt. Hakodate or the red brick warehouses with the pavements with stone can be photographed. Watch out for the cars!
