The Bansei Onsen is well-known for the hot spring ingredients containing a lot of Iodide ion, and a its characteristic is that iodo spring is rare hot springs in the world. Iodo has bactericidal effects with high-power used for gargles such as a tincture of iodin, and Asamushi Onsen is famous in Japan. That reminds me, the hot springs is same color such as a tincture of iodin. Because it has the bactericidal effects, it seems to make skin of the bathers beautiful. The hot springs of Tsubakikan in the Asamushi Onsen has the iodine ion of 0.1 mg/kg, it is great onsen that the hot springs of the Bansei Onsen has the iodine ion of 12.2 mg/kg. But the iodo spring has been found recently in Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture. The hot springs of Shirako Onsen in the Chiba prefecture has the iodine ion of 105.1 mg/kg. I guess that it has bactericidal effects very much.

Tokachi Coast Wetlands Group

Tokachi Coast Wetlands Group (十勝海岸湖沼群) is a group of wetlands spreading over in the southeastern part of Tokachi District. I do not know exactly where the extent of the Tokachi Coast Wetlands Group is. It is said that Yudo Swamp (湧洞沼), Choubushi Swamp (長節沼), Oikamanai Swamp (生花苗沼), Horokayanto Swamp (ホロカヤント沼), Kimontou Swamp (キモントウ沼), Kimontou-konuma Swamp (キモントウ小沼) and Touen Wetland (当縁湿原) are between Toyokoro town and Taiki town. The group of the wetlands has been chosen as one of 500 Important Wetlands in Japan (日本の重要湿地500), and is a site proposed for the Ramsar Convention Wetland, so people say that it is a paradise for wild flowers and wild birds. About 200 types of the wild birds are observed here. I also encountered Japanese cranes. Because those wetlands do not become tourist attractions, it is said that the group of the wetlands is a little-known spot that tourists can enjoy nature calmly. Therefore, those places are not accessible by public transportations unfortunately. Read More

They lend a hand-towel and a bath-towel. It is one of highlights that bathers can look over the Pacific from a public bathhouse. A slogan of the Bansei Onsen is "A good view is of secondary importance, and high quality hot springs "Iodine Hot Springs" for the game is the most important", and they have a pride of the high quality hot springs absolutely. By the way, taking a photo at the public bathhouse was banned when I visited here in 2019 again.

There are 2 indoor baths, 1 whirlpool bath, 1 cold bath and 1 sauna at the bathhouse. if It is fine weather, I think that a good view can be seen from the bathnouse with large glass windows, and sunny bathhouse is feeling good. There is not an outdoor bath, but bathers can go out for some reason. The large indoor bath is the size that about 20 people take a bath. The hot springs gush out from a round stone. The small indoor bath is the size that about 3 people can take a bath. Both indoor baths use heated cold springs, and the hot springs are not drinkable because of chlorination. The whirlpool bath seats 3 people, and uses heated hot water.

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons. If you are interested in tour trips, you should visit the club tourism's website for details.
