Lake Otarunai and Asari Dam
Lake Otarunai (オタルナイ湖) is a man-made lake in the southeastern part of Otaru city. Asari Dam (朝里ダム) was built in 1993, and the lake was born. Hokkaido Road 1 is built along the lake, and the watere surface area is 0.43 km2. The Asari Dam is a concrete gravity dam for the purposes of the prevention of disaster and securing drinking water in the upper of Asarigawa Onsen (朝里川温泉), and its height is about 74 m. The appearance looks very nice, and I think that it is a classic dam. Walks, Asari Dam Memorial Hall (朝里ダム記念館) and a tennis court are built as recreation and relaxation for Otaru citizen around the dam. In addition, Asari Ohashi (朝里大橋) called Asari Sky Loop (朝里スカイループ) near the dam catches visitors's eyes. Addmission free. A parking lot is free of charge.
Asarigawa Onsen (朝里川温泉) in Otaru city is a hot-spring resort located in the northwestern part of Sapporo city, and is called a back room of Otaru (小樽の奥座敷), so it is popular as a famous resort between the Sapporo and the Otaru. The Asarigawa Onsen extends north and south along Asari River (朝里川) and Hokkaido Route 1 (道々1号線), and 10 accommodations dot for about 3 km. Because the resort is surrounded by mountains, there are a lot of leisure facilities such as Sasson Golf Club (札樽ゴルフ倶楽部), Sapporo Park Golf Course (札幌パークゴルフ場), Asarigawa Onsen Ski Resort (朝里川温泉スキー場) and Asarigawa Auto Campsite (朝里川オートキャンプ場), and visitors can enjoy great outdoors. Some restaurants and cafes are built around the center of the Asarigawa Onsen. In addition, there is a convenience store near Kokuraen (宏楽園) at the entrance of the Asarigawa Onsen, and there are not any convenience stores at the center of the Asarigawa Onsen. Read More

By the way, Club Tourism (クラブツーリズム), a Japanese tour travel agency, provides various types of tours such as day trip tours or ordinary tours. In the case of bus tours, tourists do not drive their cars themselves, so they can savor alcohol. Choosen tourist attractions are national parks such as Rishiri and Rebun, Shiretoko, and popular tourist places such as Furano and Biei, and some activities such as hiking and fruit picking are also enjoyed depending on seasons.
