[Ichikura Head Office in Asahikawa] Dried Chum Salmon Ramen Filled with Taste of Hokkaido

Ganso Asahikawa Ramen Ichikura (元祖旭川らーめん 一蔵) is a popular ramen restraunt run by Kuramoto corp. (株式会社 蔵元) based in Asahikawa city. Mr. Hideyuki Maeda (前田 秀幸), a chairman, established it in 1990. They were given the Bib Gourmand by MICHELIN GUIDE Hokkaido 2012 Special Edition. The Ichikura is famous for serving ramen made stock from dried chum salmon produced in Hokkaido, and I guess that it is very rare. The head office along 3 Jo-dori street is relatively near Asahikawa Station, and branch restraunts open a business in Fukagawa and Sapporo.
The head office in an entertainment district is large, and the interior decoration is new. Counter seats and table seats are provided, so I guess that even family customers and a large number of customers enjoy meals. Their busy time is not lunchtime but nighttime. Here is called "Sanrokugai (サンロク街) * 36 street", the largest entertainment district in the Asahikawa, so drunk people come to eat post-drink ramen.

Asahikawa (旭川) that about 340,000 people live is the 2nd largest commercial city in Hokkaido, and has flourished as the center of the North Hokkaido area. Woodworks have been prosperous since the old days, and furniture is famous. Because water is clear, a liquor such as sake of Otokoyama (男山) and Godo Shusei (合同酒精) are famous, too. Popular tourist attractions such as Asahiyama Zoo (旭山動物園) and Biei (美瑛) are around the Asahikawa, so a lot of tourists use tourist bases in the North Hokkaido. As for a climate, the Asahikawa is located in Kamikawa Basin, the largest basin in the Hokkaido, so it is hot that temperature rises to 30 degrees C in a summer, and it is cold that temperature falls to -25 degrees C in a winter, and it snow very hard, too. Ramen of Hokkaido
Ramen is a noodle soup dish topped with ingredients. It is said that Chinese noodles is the root of the ramen, and there are various theories, for example, Mr. Mistukuni Tokugawa (徳川光圀 * Mitokomon (水戸黄門)) ate the ramen in 1697 for the first time in Japan or the first ramen was that Keitaimen noodles (経帯麺) served in 1488 was written in Biryueken Diary (蔭涼軒日録). Noodle soup dishes were spread out in Japan because Nanking noodles (南京そば) was served in various China Towns, Japan. In Hakodate with a China Town, Yowaken (養和軒) served the Nanking noodles in 1884. In Sapporo, it is a root of Sapporo Ramen that a noodle soup dish was cooked by Mr. Wang Wen Zai (王 文彩), a chief chef of Takeya Shokudo (竹家食堂), in 1922. Houran (芳蘭), a branch of the Takeya Shokudo, opened a business in 1933 in Asahikawa. Asahikawa Ramen, Sapporo Ramen and Hakodate Ramen called the 3 Major Ramen in Hokkaido were born. Dried Chum Salmon Ramen with Soy Sauce Flavor
I visited here around 12:30 on a weekday. A lot of school trip students came at that time. The Ichikura was popular as I expected. I sat a window seat, and ordered the Dried Chum Salmon Ramen with Soy Sauce Flavor (鮭節醤油ラーメン). The price was JPY 900. By the way, I hear that the Ichikura Head Office serves halal food for Muslim. I think that ramen for the Muslim is unusual. In addition, Ichikura Ramen (一蔵ラーメン) covered with green onions is also popular.
Abot 10 minutes later, the Dried Chum Salmon Ramen with Soy Sauce Flavor was served. Roasted Pork Fillets, bamboo shoots, a boiled egg, green onions were on noodles. The appearance looked ordinary ramen, but I had a sip of ramen soup, and it clearly tasted the salmon. I felt that the light soup was like buckwheat noodles sopu. It was tasty!
The homemade noodles made from 100 % wheat flour produced in Hokkaido went well with the soup. This ramen is filled with the taste of the Hokkaido. Thanks for the tasty ramen!
