Northernmost Onsen in Japanese -Wakkanai Onsen Domu-

February 9th, 2014

Domu

Domu (童夢) is a public bath in Wakkanai city. It is said that this onsen is located in the north most in Japan, and visitors can stay at several hot spring hotels near a bulding. There are Cape Noshappu (ノシャップ岬) and Wakkanai Youth House (稚内青年の家) near the building. There is a restraunt "Yunagi (夕凪)" at the building, too. It seemed to be popular by local people, and many visitors came to take a bath. By the way, a photography was prohibited at a bathhouse. Bad luck!

There are 1 open-air bath, 2 indoor baths, 1 whirlpool bath, 1 cascading bath, 1 medicated bath, 1 cold bath and 2 saunas at the bathhouse. If it is fine, the bathhouse gets drenched in sunlight and it is a very comfortable. The open-air bath has a sence of openness and the bathers can look at the Sea of Japan and Mt. Rishirifuji. It is really nice scenery.

When I read Tweets, Domu seems to be popular.

Hot springs are sodium chloride carbonated spring, and are a little opaque and light yellow and have salty taste and oil smell. The hot springs are used a source of the hot spring diluted 5 times with water. The sum total of the hot spring ingredients are 6.020 g. Unfortunately, the hot spring are not drinkable. Shampoos and body soaps are provided at the bathhouse. A restroom and free hair dryers are installed at a dressing room.
