In 1785, Mr. Tokunai Mogami (最上徳内) wrote Yezososhi (蝦夷草紙) about Noboribetsu, so Ainu people seemed to use here as a hot spring place. Mr. Kinzo Takimoto (滝本金蔵) opened a hot-spring inn at this land in 1858. It is said that the base of the hot spring resort is formed at these days.
