Cherry Blossoms and Molding Can Be Enjoyed with Natural Sculpture -Moerenuma Park in Sapporo-

Moerenuma Park (モエレ沼公園) is designed by Mr. Isamu Noguchi (イサム・ノグチ), famous artist, and is the area of 188.8 ha. This park seemed to reflect an image "Harmonizing Artifact with Nature" and "Engraving Ground". This park won the Good Design Award in 2002. It is a famous place for enjoying cherry blossoms. Sapporo people use the park as a place for relaxation and refreshment, but it is a little‐known place as a tourist attraction. Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge.
The Moerenuma Park has Glass Pyramid “HIDAMARI”, Sea Fountain (海の噴水), Forest of Cherry Trees (サクラの森), Moere Beach (モエレビーチ), Mt. Moere (モエレ山), Play Mountain (プレイマウンテン), Tetra Mound (テトラマウンド), Aqua Plaza (アクアプラザ) and Music Shell (ミュージックシェル). There are a restraunt and a stall store at the Glass Pyramid “HIDAMARI” and a soft serve ice cream is sold.
About 2,600 cherry trees such as Yezo Mountain Cherry, Korean Hill Cherry, Chishimazakura Cherry are planted at the Forest of Cherry Trees. Various play equipments are installed on the Forest of Cherry, too, and children can play happily. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in early May.
