Okhotsk Nature Can be Easily Gone Sightseeing -Koshimizu Primeval Flower Garden-

Koshimizu Primeval Flower Garden (小清水原生花園) is in Koshimizu town located in the southeastern part of Abashiri city and is on a slim sand dune with 8 km in width between the Sea of Okhotsk (オホーツク海) and Lake Tofustu (濤沸湖). There are Koshimizu Primeval Flower Garden Information Center "Hana" (小清水原生花園インフォメーションセンター Hana) and a restroom in the site, too, and they offer information about the primeval flower garden, and there are a stall and a resting place at the information center. There are Hamashimizu Maehama Camping Ground (浜清水前浜キャンプ場) and Futorei Observatory (フレトイ展望台) near the Koshimizu Primeval Flower Garden. Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge.
About 40 kinds of flowers bloom from May to August. Representative flowers are Siberian Lily, Lemon Day-lily, Blackberry Lily iris, Rosa Rugosa and Black Lily. In addition, it is known that a rare insect, Sakhalin Grasshopper and inhabits, too. Tourists can practically go only around Genseikaen Station (原生花園駅) that is opend only in a summer. An observatory and paths are built. Because it is not so wide, tourists can go around for about 30 minutes. In addition, there is the singing sand located in the northernmost of Japan. When I stepped on the sand, it sounded. As for Lake Tofutsu, the visitors can only look at the lake from far away.
