Remains of Jomon Period on Hill -Kita Kogane-Kaizuka Shell Mound Park in Date-

Kita Kogane-Kaizuka Shell Mound Park (北黄金貝塚公園) is a Jomon shell mound vestige (貝塚集落遺跡) between Date city and Muroran city and seemed to be a village of Jomon people 3,500-5,000 B.C. There are 5 shell mound traces in total, and it is reproduced with scallop shells now, and a scenery that is dotted with white shell mounds on a green hill is very nice. Houses of Jomon people are reproduced in the site, too, and the visitors can go in and out freely. In addition, finds are exhibited at Kita Kogane Information Center (北黄金情報センター). Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge.
