Scenery That Ancient People May See -Horokayanto Marsh in Taiki-
July 22nd, 2017
Horokayanto Marsh (ホロカヤントウ沼) is a brackish water marsh facing Pacific Ocean in Taiki located in the southeastern part of Obihiro, and is famous for fishing pond smelts in a winter. The perimeter of the marsh is about 5 km. There are Tokachi Horokayanto Pit-House Remains (十勝ホロカヤントウ竪穴住居群) on a small hill with about 15 m in height, and visitors can enter a restored house freely. When I saw the Horokayanto Marsh on the small hill, I thougt about the ancient people. Admission free. A parking lot is free of charge. There is Bansei Onsen (晩成温泉) near the marsh.
