Popular Photo Spot with Photogenic Appearance -Former Hokkaido Government Office in Sapporo-

Former Hokkaido Government Office (北海道道庁旧本庁舎) is a historical building in chuo ward, Sapporo city and has an another name "Akarenga (赤レンガ * Red Brick)", and its name is popular name, too. It was built as a neo-baroque style building with a lot of redbricks in 1888 and has designed as a national important cultural property. Bureau of Hokkaido Development was established here once and has been the center of the Hokkaido politics since the old days. There are a garden as well as Present Hokkaido Government Office at the site, too, so here is a place of rest and relaxation for Sapporo people. It is famous as a popular photo spot because of photogenic appearance. Relevant documents are displayed at the building from that period. Admission free. The Former Hokkaido Government Office is relatively near Sapporo Station. In a spring, cherry blossoms can be enjoyed, and ginkgo trees can be enjoyed in an autumn, too.
